Locker Room Policy

LAC is committed to maintaining a safe environment for athletes and coaches as well as reducing the risk of misconduct in locker rooms and changing areas.  As such, we will make every effort to recognize when an athlete goes to the locker room or changing area during practice and competition and, if they do not return in a timely fashion, we will check on the athlete's whereabouts. Parents are not permitted in the locker rooms without the direct permission from our staff.  Because we do not want athletes to feel uncomfortable while changing, locker rooms will not be supervised 100% of the time. Athletes are expected to not linger before and after practice, respect others, and the facilities at all time. The use of cameras/cell phones are strictly prohibited in the locker room. Athletes unable to meet expectations may lose locker room access.

Action Plan to Address Bullying
Approval Date: August 14, 2023

Version No.: 1
Bullying of any kind is unacceptable at Lakeview Aquatic Club and will not be tolerated. LAC
is committed to providing a safe, caring and friendly environment for all of our members.
This policy is in place to ensure that all members understand the protocol to address any
situation that creates a hostile environment for our athletes and that any incident will be
dealt with promptly and effectively.

WHAT IS BULLYING?
Generally, bullying is the use of aggression, whether intentional or not, which hurts another
person. Bullying results in pain and distress from the severe or repeated usage of verbal,
written, photo images, sound, or a physical act or gesture directed at another member that to
a reasonably objective person has the effect of causing physical or emotional harm to the
other member or damage to the other member’s property.

Bullying creates a hostile environment for other members, disrupts orderly trainings, and is
not tolerated during any LAC activity – including practices, workouts, competitions or any
other LAC sponsored event.

REPORTING PROCEDURE
If an athlete feels that he/she has been bullied, they are asked to do one or more of the
following things:
 Talk to their parents;
 Talk to a Coach
 Contact a Board Member to discuss the matter; or
 Provide written communication to a Coach or Board Member
While there is no set time limit, every effort should be made to bring the complaint to the
attention of the LAC Coaches or Board Members as soon as possible to make sure any
bullying behavior can be stopped as soon as possible.

ACTION PLAN
If any bullying occurs during team-related activities, the LAC Action Plan is to stop bullying on
the spot using the following steps:
1. Intervene immediately.
2. Separate the athletes involved.
3. Make sure everyone is safe.
4. Meet any immediate medical or mental health needs.
5. Stay calm and model respectful behavior at all times.

Once any immediate situation is addressed, LAC leadership will work to collect the facts to
determine if bullying did take place; support the affected athletes by directly addressing
the behavior, and collaborating with affected members to develop a game plan to ensure
the behavior is stopped and a positive environment is returned.
