On December 12th 2013, the Friends of LAC Swimming Community Project Fund was created. As noted in the agreement to establish The Friends of LAC Swimming Community Project Fund as created by the Battle Creek Community Foundation, “ the Friends of LAC Swimming is a group committed to supporting and developing opportunities for the enhancement of health and wellness through swimming.”
The fund has a scholarship committee of three members, made up of the Head Coach, Fund Chair and Treasurer. The primary goal of the fund is to provide financial aid to LAC Swim Team members who may need help in paying for registration fees and or team travel costs.
LAC Swimming Scholarship Program Financial Aid – Membership
The LAC Swim Team seeks to assure that no athlete is deprived of the opportunity to participate on the team for want of financial means. To this end, a limited scholarship fund, The Friends of LAC Swimming, has been created to help defray the costs of LAC Swim Team membership. To assure the equitable allocation of these funds we ask that you complete an application. The application is confidential and will be handled by the Scholarship Committee, comprising of the Head Coach, Fund Chair and Treasurer, only, to ensure your privacy. The fact that a family is receiving financial assistance will not be disclosed outside of these three board members.
Note: A separate application must be filled out for each swimmer. The awards within a family may vary.
Before submitting your application, please read and be ready to adhere to the following guidelines if your application is approved.
- To stretch our funds as far as possible, the committee gives preference for partial awards. The scholarship will cover between 25% and 50% of the Swim Team Registration fees. You will, however still be required to pay your annual USA Swimming Registration. There is help available for the USA fees, direct from USA Swimming.
- All scholarship families are required to fulfill all their volunteer hour requirements.
- Scholarships will be awarded in Sept.,Dec., and April of each year that there are funds available. Each scholarship is only good for the length of that season. Those wishing to receive the scholarship the following season must apply.
- Receipt of Scholarship in one season does not guarantee receipt in a following season.
- Misconduct, as defined by the USA Swimming Code of Conduct, is grounds for loss of scholarship.

LAC Swimming Team Travel Application for Financial Aid Guideline
The LAC Swim Club seeks to assure that no athlete is deprived of the ability to attend a Team Travel swim meet (e.g. Out of State and or Coach Invite Only) for want of financial means. To this end, a limited scholarship fund, the Friends of LAC Swimming, was created to help defray the costs of team travel. The application is confidential and will be handled by the Scholarship Committee, comprising of the Head Coach, Fund Chair and Treasurer, only to ensure your privacy. The fact that a family is receiving financial assistance will not be disclosed outside of these board members.

- In Order to be eligible , the swimmer MUST have an invitation to attend the meet from their coach and an attendance record that meets or exceeds their group requirements.
- To stretch our funds as far as possible, the committee will award only partial awards. The scholarship will cover between 25% and 50% of the total travel costs for the swimmer only. This may include one or all of the following:
- Transportation
- Hotel
- Food
- All scholarship families must fulfill all the volunteer hour requirements.
- Scholarships will be awarded on a meet to meet basis.
- Misconduct, as defined by the USA Swimming Code of Conduct, is grounds for the loss of the Team Travel Scholarship.
