Sang Kim - term ends 2026

My name is Sang Kim.  I have been in Columbia, Missouri, since 1995.  I’m one of those people who came to Columbia to study at Mizzou and have never left.

My wife Sarah and I have two children: James (9) and Hannah (5).  James, currently a 4th grader at Mill Creek Elementary, has been swimming with CSC (Age Group Black) since the fall of 2019, and we hope to have Hannah join CSC as well in the near future.

I really like the welcoming community feel of the CSC.  Dedicated coaching staff, board of directors, and volunteers bring the swimmers, parents, and family members together, maintaining a uniquely friendly and “one team” atmosphere for everyone.  It has been a true joy to watch James grow not only physically but also mentally and socially through his involvement in CSC.

When I’m not driving James to swim practices, I work with various international groups and initiatives, as the director of the Asian Affairs Center, at the University of Missouri.  I would like to assist the CSC to continue welcoming swimmers and families of various backgrounds and interests.

Jake Jones - term ends 2026

My wife (Megan), daughter (Rose; age 10 Age Group Black), and I moved to the Mid-Missouri area for my career in 2017.  We spent four years in Mid-MO prior to relocating to the Des Moines, IA metropolitan area for work.  During our time in Columbia, Rose participated in Little Tigersharks, where her love of swimming began.

When we moved to the Des Moines area, Rose joined the Rams Swim Club (RSC).  She began to compete locally, and her passion for swimming grew even further.  She wanted to emulate her big cousin, who is now on scholarship on the Georgia Tech swim team.  Rose’s participation with RSC provided me with the opportunity to learn more about the sport.  I grew up playing baseball and wrestling in our home state of IL, which ultimately led to my acceptance of a scholarship to play baseball at Millikin University.  As I got older, I had a deeper understanding of the importance of youth sports as an environment that not only strengthens young athletes’ bodies but also their values.  I see this even more so as a parent, and I relish any and all opportunities to be involved and give back to similar athletic programs that shaped me.  Involvement in RSC and meets hosted by DSMY were some of the best memories of our short time in IA, and I hope to bring this passion and perspective to CSC.

Fortunately, my role with Pilot Company brought me back to mid-MO, where my family and I now reside in Boonville.  Pilot Company, is the largest over-the-road diesel supplier in North America.  In my current role as Region Manager, I oversee a portfolio of sites in MO and IA that does roughly $440 million in annual sales.  I look forward to having the opportunity to bring my experience in business management in the commodity/retail sector to CSC in order to continue our mission to be Mid Missouri’s premier swim club.
