Developmental Competitive Age Groups
LTS Black & Gold - Where we ENTER the CLUB
Ages: 5-7 year olds (must be in kindergarten)
Daily Training & Yardage: Instructional practices 2 days a week for 45 minutes each
Basic Goals:
- Introduction to competitive swimming in a Group Training Environment
- Learning workout habits and lane etiquette
Swimming Educational Goals:
- Learn how to streamline
- Basic swim rules
Meets: Participate in CSC mini-meets & CSC home meets
LTS Black
Areas of Focus:
- Body Position
- Breathing Techniques
- Overall Stroke Development
- Develop kicks for all 4 strokes
- Develop an understanding of the arms for all 4 strokes
Admittance:
- 25 yd freestyle
- 15 yd backstroke
- basic knowledge of breaststroke and butterfly
- Must be in Kindergarten
LTS Gold
Areas of Focus:
- Body Position
- Breathing Techniques
- Overall Stroke Development
- Work towards legal breaststroke and fly kick
- Work towards legal arms in breaststroke and fly
Admittance:
- 25 yd freestyle
- 15 yd backstroke
- 15 yd breaststroke
- 15 yd fly
Developmental Competitive Groups - Where we LEARN to PRACTICE
Age Group White:
Ages: 6-10 years old
Daily Training & Yardage: 45 minutes 4 days/week swimming 800-1,500 yards
Basic Goals:
- Introduction to competitive swimming and a Group Training Environment
- Learn workout habits and lane etiquette
Areas of Focus:
- Build a strong foundation in all 4 competitive stroke
- Improve kicking
Swimming Educational Goals:
- Reading a clock
- Progression of drills
- Swim Meet Procedures
Dryland Program: SwimStrong Dryland
Test Set to Advance: Legal 200 IM + 8x50 IMO on 1:30
Equipment: Kickboard, Fins, Snorkel
Meets: Participate in CSC mini-meets, CSC local home meets & travel to a few
Admittance: 25 freestyle, 25 backstroke, legal breaststroke kick, basic butterfly rhythm
Age Group Black:
Ages: 6-10 years old
Daily Training & Yardage: 60 minutes 5 days/week swimming 800-2,000 yards
Basic Goals:
- Begin Aerobic Development
- Read a pace clock and begin understanding basic intervals

Begin Racing Skills
Areas of Focus:
- Body Position
- Breathing Techniques
- Improve on streamlines, learn flip turns and open turns
- Build a strong foundation in all 4 competitive strokes
- Develop kick and a LEGAL breaststroke kick
Swimming Educational Goals:
- Reading a clock and how to go 5 to 10 seconds apart
- Names of Drills
- Basic Swim Rules
- Swim Meet Procedures
Dryland Program: SwimStrong Dryland
Test Set to Advance: No Test set but must be legal in all 4 strokes
Equipment: Kickboard, Fins, Snorkel & Pull Buoy
Meets: Participate in CSC mini-meets, CSC local home meets & travel to a few
Admittance: 25 freestyle, 25 backstroke, legal breaststroke kick and legal butterfly stroke
Age Group Gold:
Ages: 11-14 years old
Daily Training & Yardage: 60 minutes 5 days/week swimming 1,000-3,000 yards
Basic Goals:
- Technique development
- Learning Aerobic Training concepts with an emphis on competitive and race strategy development
- Read a pace clock and begin understanding basic intervals along with lane management

Racing Skills and working towards District Cuts
Areas of Focus:
- Build a strong foundation in all 4 competitive strokes
- Improve Kicking
Swimming Educational Goals:
- Reading a clock knowing intervals and times gone in practices
- Progression of Drills
Dryland Program: SwimStrong Dryland
Test Set to Advance: No Test set but need to achieve District Cuts to advance to the Tigershark groups
Equipment: Kickboard, Fins, Snorkel & Pull Buoy
Meets: Participate in CSC mini-meets, CSC local home meets & travel to a few
Admittance: Know all 4 competitive strokes, flip turns and open turns
