Shawmut Seniors attended the January Jubilee Meet hosted by the Raleigh Swim Association in Cary, North Carolina, January 14-17. This trials/finals meet welcomed some of the most competitive teams on the East Coast, and it was a great opportunity for our group to race swimmers outside of the LSC. Shawmut swimmers posted numerous best times and new additions to the SAC Top 5 Lists. Three Shawmut Records were broken over the weekend. Abby Benkert broke the girls 13-14 200 IM record by almost two seconds, posting a time of 2:08.51....
Shawmut swimmers competed in the 400 IM and/or 1000 Freestyle at the Distance Meet, held at Harvard University on Sunday, January 16th. The group posted many best times, age group cuts, and impressive drops in both events. Results: Distance Meet Results
USA swimming compiles Top 20 Lists for every age group and every event. They are updated every few weeks. At the end of the year, the Top 10 in every age group are recognized by USA Swimming. Shawmut swimmers posted 185 best times over the course of the weekend at the MIT Invitational, December 9-12. Andrea Wei set new team records in the 9-10 Butterfly events: 50 Fly (30.47) and 100 Fly (1:07.75). Wei currently ranks first in New England in both events.
