WELCOME TO MISSISSAUGA AQUATIC CLUB AND THE WAVE PROGRAM
The WAVE Program is a great introduction to competitive swimming. WAVE teaches the fundamentals of the 4 competitive swimming strokes and their respective turns as well as introduces swimmers to the competitive side of this sport.
WAVE swims two times a week. Each practice is one hour. When you register you can pick the location/time best for you. Swimmers are divided up by age and ability. Levels are listed below. Coaches will use the first practice to assess the swimmers into the appropriate level and lane. WAVE is for swimmers 6-8 years of age.
WAVE PLUS swims three times a week. Each practice is one hour. When you register you can pick the location/time best for you. Swimmers are divided up by age and ability. Levels are listed below. Coaches will use the first practice to assess the swimmers into the appropriate level and lane. WAVE is for swimmers 6-12 years of age.
WAVE / WAVE PLUS is for those who are able to swim 25m or one length of the pool and are comfortable in the deep end. We recommend swimmers have completed swim for life level 6 before attending a tryout, tryouts are required before registration to ensure appropriate placement.
The WAVE program for 2023-2024 will begin the week of October 1 and finish end of May/beginning of June 2024.
Each location will receive a calendar specific to their program
The fee for WAVE the full season is $1680.00. This fee covers 60 x 1 hour practices, 3 swim meets (schedule TBA) and a year end fun event in June. We offer a payment plan.
The fee for WAVE PLUS the full season is $2280.00. This fee covers 90 x 1 hour practices, 3 swim meets (schedule TBA) and a year end fun event in June. We offer a payment plan.
Each swimmer will also be invoiced for the Swim Ontario Registration Fee. This fee is based on age and covers all swimmers from September 1, 2023 to August 31, 2024. 8 and under $123.90 / 9 and 10 $143.90 / 11-14 $163.90

WAVE PROGRAM PROGRESSION
LEVEL 1
A swimmer will be recognized with a level 1 pin when they are capable of:
- 2 lengths of freestyle kicking, without a kick board, in streamline position.
- 2 lengths of backstroke kicking, without a kick board, in streamline position.
- 2 lengths of breaststroke kicking, without a kick board, in streamline position, arms do not move up and down.
- 2 lengths of butterfly kicking, without a kick board, in streamline position, breathing every 2 kicks.
LEVEL 2
A swimmer will be recognized with a level 2 pin when they have completed level 1 and are capable of:
- 2 lengths of freestyle, without any stops, breathing every 3 strokes in good streamline position.
- 2 lengths of backstroke without head movement.
- 2 lengths of breaststroke holding 2 seconds streamline position at the end of each stroke.
- 2 lengths of 1 arm butterfly.
LEVEL 3
A swimmer will be recognized with a level 3 pin when they have completed level 1 and 2 and are capable of:
- A continuous 100IM, in good form for all 4 strokes.
- Starts for all 4 strokes.
- 100IM kick in 3 minutes.
- Half a length of underwater dolphin kick.
- Diving head first.
LEVEL 4
A swimmer will be recognized with a level 4 pin when they have completed levels 1-3 and are capable of:
- 2 lengths of freestyle, with level 2 technique, in 60 seconds.
- 2 lengths of backstroke, with level 2 technique, in 70 seconds.
- 2 lengths of breaststroke, with level 2 technique, in 90 seconds.
- 1 length of butterfly in 35 seconds.
LEVEL 5 - after successfully completing level 5 swimmers will be recommended to move to the WHITE program
A swimmer will be recognized with a level 5 pin when they have completed level 1-4 and are capable of:
- 2 lengths of freestyle, with level 2 technique, in 50 seconds.
- 2 lengths of backstroke, with level 2 technique, in 60 seconds.
- 2 lengths of breaststroke, with level 2 technique, in 75 seconds.
- 200IM kick in 5:20.
