Understanding Your Investment in Blue Crush (Legacy) Swimming
Welcome to an exciting journey with Blue Crush (Legacy)! We're thrilled to have you join our aquatic family! This section provides details about the financial commitment families make to our team - think of it as your roadmap to understanding how we keep our amazing programs running while keeping costs as affordable as possible.
Being part of Blue Crush (Legacy) requires payment of annual membership fees, monthly dues, registration fees, competition costs, and annual fundraising. We also have annual service hours (volunteer time requirement) which help keep our club strong and connected!
Athletes and their families must be "members in good standing" to attend practices, meets, and other Blue Crush (Legacy) events. Members in good standing have paid all registration fees, adhere to stated team obligations (dues payment, fundraising, and volunteering), and follow our codes of conduct.
Everyone must have a current USA Swimming membership for insurance purposes (the amount of the fee is determined by USA Swimming).
The following financial obligations may be changed by vote of the Blue Crush board once each year.
๐ณ Team Dues & Fees
Athlete Registration Fees & Dues
Blue Crush (Legacy) utilizes TEAM UNIFY software and all billing is done online. Families will be issued an online access password when they register with Blue Crush (Legacy) - it's like getting the keys to your new aquatic home!
Payment Schedule:
- Athletes are required to pay their monthly dues on the 1st of every month
- Must submit to Blue Crush (Legacy) a copy of their USA Swimming registration card
- Athletes may not practice or compete until all fees are paid
Late Payment Policy:
- Dues are late if not paid by the 5th of each month
- $20 late fee assessed if payment is not received by the 10th of each month
- If dues are not paid, the athlete will be restricted from Blue Crush (Legacy) participation
Annual Fee: $90.00
All athletes (new or returning) pay an annual fee that includes:
- 2 team shirts
- Team cap
- Administrative costs

Our dues cover the costs of weekly practice. Meet fees are additional and added to your account as attended - this way you only pay for the meets your swimmer actually participates in! This years increase is due to a new Oregon law that requires us to have lifeguards at all practices.

Families with multiple athletes receive monthly discounts - because we know aquatic families often have more than one fish in the water!
- 2 athletes: $20 discount
- 3 athletes: $50 discount
- 4 athletes: $90 discount
- 5 athletes: $150 discount
๐ Meet Fees & Coaching
Meet participation is where the magic happens! This is where your swimmer gets to showcase all their hard work.
Coaching Fee: $7.00 per meet attended
- First meet of each month: Coaching fee included in monthly dues
- Additional meets: $7.00 coaching fee added per meet
- Championship meets: $20.00 coaching fee
Meet Costs: All meet entry fees are added to your account and payable by the 1st of the following month.
Important: Athletes are responsible for all fees associated with meets they register for, even if they can't attend due to illness or other circumstances.
๐ Scholarships
We believe every dedicated athlete deserves the opportunity to be part of our Blue Crush (Legacy) family! Our scholarships are available on a need basis to ensure no athlete is deprived of the opportunity to participate for lack of financial means.
Scholarship Details:
- Monthly credit issued PER ACCOUNT (not per athlete)
- Covers 25-75% of monthly dues only
- Limited availability - granted first come, first served
- Must reapply annually
- Requires additional volunteer hours and fundraising commitments
- May be rescinded if accounts are not kept in good standing
Application: Confidential process handled by Executive Committee only.
๐ Departing Members
We hope you'll be with us for years to come, but we understand life happens!
30-Day Notice Required: Athletes leaving Blue Crush (Legacy) must notify the board and coach via email through the "contact us" tab 30 days prior to departure.
Financial Responsibilities:
- Monthly dues for any practice or competition attended through the last calendar month
- All outstanding dues, fees, and unmet fundraising/volunteer time must be paid
- Fundraising and volunteer obligations prorated through departure month
- Fees are not pro-rated
Extended Absence: Athletes gone more than 30 days will be charged a $30 reinstatement fee per athlete upon return.
Medical Exemptions: Available to suspend dues during medical situations.
๐ Re-Joining the Team
Welcome back! Blue Crush (Legacy) athletes who rejoin after departing must:
- Re-register with Blue Crush (Legacy) and USA Swimming (if registration has lapsed)
- Pay $30 reinstatement fee per athlete
- Pay current USA Swimming registration fee
- Must have been a "member in good standing" at time of departure

Blue Crush (Legacy) athletes are expected to participate in swim meets - this is where you'll see your hard work pay off and create those unforgettable team memories that last a lifetime!
Meet Participation Policy:
- Athletes register for meets they plan to attend
- All associated fees are the athlete's responsibility
- No refunds for registered meets not attended
