Blue Crush (Legacy) Scholarship Program
Ensuring Opportunities for All Athletes!
At Blue Crush, we are committed to ensuring that every athlete has the opportunity to participate, regardless of financial circumstances. To support this commitment, we offer limited scholarship funds, made possible through member fundraising, to help offset the costs of membership and travel associated with joining Blue Crush.
Confidential Application Process
Your Privacy is Protected
Our application process is designed to be confidential and is managed solely by our Executive Board, which includes:
- Head Coach
- Treasurer
- Parent Board President
- Director of Operations
- Member at Large
The identities of applicants or recipients of financial assistance are kept strictly confidential and are not disclosed beyond these five committee members.
Our Goal
Our primary goal is to provide financial assistance to Blue Crush members who may need help covering:
Monthly dues
Team travel expenses
Competition costs
We are dedicated to removing financial barriers so that all athletes can fully participate and thrive in our programs!
Scholarship Details
What We Cover
- 25%-50% of monthly dues (standard awards)
- Up to 75% of monthly dues (in cases of extreme temporary hardship)
- Partial travel assistance for team trips and special meets
- USA Swimming/Water Polo registration may have separate assistance available
Application Timeline
- Scholarships awarded twice yearly: September and February
- Each scholarship is seasonal - reapplication required each season
- Previous scholarship receipt does not guarantee future awards
Requirements for Recipients
- Complete all volunteer hour requirements (minimum 35 hours annually)
- Maintain good standing with team conduct expectations
- Submit separate applications for each swimmer in the family
- Provide required documentation (income verification, school lunch eligibility, athlete essay)
Application Requirements
For Each Athlete:
- Athlete's essay explaining what being on the team means to them
- Commitment statement regarding practice attendance and goals
- Personal statement about their desire to be part of the team
For Families:
- Income documentation (may require recent tax returns)
- School lunch eligibility proof (if applicable)
- Explanation of financial need or recent changes in circumstances
