The Apple Capital turned out to be another sunny and warm meet this year. A bit more windy on Sunday than we can remember but much more bearable with the lower temps compared to last year. Swimming outdoors is definitely an adjustment for the new swimmers on our team. Congratulations to Gillian Tu (Junior), Christopher Harig (Jr Nationals) and Marius Rakickas (Jr Nationals) for being selected for the 2017 14&U Western Zone Travel Team which will travel to Roseville, CA on August 9-12th. The team will compete at the Western Zone 14&U Championships against the best in the Western Zone. The selection process is very competitive with only 48 athletes being selected for the travel team. Way to go Sockeyes and good luck in August.

Participation in the May Flowers means we are full steam into the long course season. We had 225 best times, 22 first time swims, 19 new silver times, 68 new gold times, 12 new 14&U LC Champ times, 6 new Sr LC Champ times, 1 new 14&U Western Zone time and 4 new Sr Western Zone Times swam at the meet. Last weekend marked our first long course meet of the season. Being back in the water for only a week make made the Dick LaFave meet a bit more challenging but everyone had a great meet. The Marin Morrison meet was a great success this year as the pool didn’t break down like last year. Our swimmers were able to compete in all of their events. Watching the disability swimmers compete is an inspirational time for swimmers who get to compete against those athletes. Northwest Age Group Regionals was a very exciting weekend for our swimmers swimming against the best the northwest has to offer. Spring Divisionals turned to be quite a success for our swimmers getting some last chance cuts for the Northwest Age Group Regional meet.
