Congrats to Warren Briggs and Nate Harris for competing at the Western Zone Senior Championship meet last week in Clovis, CA. They survived the 100+ degree temps during the meet. Both Warren and Nate combined with other swimmers from the Pacific Northwest to create an All Star team. The All Star team finish 3rd in the All Star Team category for the meet. Summer ShortCourse Divisional was a big success for our athletes in the meet. Lots of second swims for our 11& over athletes in the meet. Congratulations to our Senior Sockeye Swimmers who placed 4th as a team at our LC Senior Championships. Many accomplishments were achieved over the course of the weekend for our swimmers. Summer Grand Challenge was the last long course meet for our athletes not attending Champs. Age Group Seattle was the one of the last meets for our 14&U athletes to qualify for 14&U Champs. This also marks the last last long course meet during the regular season for our athletes who are not participating in the Short Divisionals this weekend.We had 121 best times, 17 first time swims, 11 new silver times, 24 new gold times and 6 new 14&U Champ Times. Pacific Coast meet had many great swims over the weekend. In some cases we had a lot of swimmers who got to finally swim in a long course meet this summer. Cannonball Classic shows that we are passed the half way point in our long course season. Our coaching staff learned yesterday that Ben Gore a former Sockeye swimmer presumably lost his life in a glissading accident on Aasgard Pass in Chelan County over the weekend. He was a member of the Issaquah Swim Team from 2006-2009 and still holds several IST records. Ben moved to Mercer Island and continued to swim with Olympic Cascade Aquatics.
