DWHS v. PWHS Meet Recap
As predicted, the great performances keep coming! The Whippets had their first dual meet against Plymouth Whitemarsh High School. We started off with the girls 200 medley relay (Caroline Cusack, Cooper Jones, Callie Ritter, and Leah Lacovara) taking first place and the boys 200 medley relay (Logan Seiss, Ike Durkin, Henry Dennin, and Zach Mourar) taking second place. On our other relay teams, shout outs go to sophomores Molly Krumaker (breast) and William Vaugh (free) for having personal best split times.
Then, freshman Ellie McNamara had her first high school swim grabbing first place in the 200 free and a District consideration time. Senior Zach Mourar also had a strong 200 free race for the boys and achieved a personal best time. Next, sophomores Cooper Jones and Abby Harlan added a 1-2 punch on the 200 IM for the girls. Not to be outdone by the girls, freshman Shane Martin and junior Logan Seiss took first and second place on the 200 IM for the boys. On the 50 free, sophomore Mary Kate Johnson and senior Ike Durkin had our fastest times for the Whippets.
As for our divers, junior Grace McNamara led the way for the girls. Sophomore Reilly Durkin and freshman Mia Enterline had amazing moments of their own. As for the boys, sophomore Nolan Dobry was our highest scorer. Junior Micah Russell is also one to watch – completely fearless and had some great dives.
After the diving session, the Whippet girls creamed the competition on the 100 fly with a 1-2-3 finish for freshman Ellie McNamara, sophomore Abby Harlan, and senior Callie Ritter. Freshman Ellie McNamara also achieved a District consideration time on the 100 fly. Sophomore Henry Dennin and freshman Sean Borkowski had strong performances for the boys on the 100 fly, with Dennin getting a personal best time. Then, junior swimmers Ella Bice and Connor Cianciulli led the way for the Whippets with solid swims on the 100 free, with Cianciulli getting a personal best time.
On the 500 free, junior Leah Lacovara and senior Sydney Martin literally pushed each other to a 1-2 finish (only .04 second apart) and picked up District consideration times. Freshman Sean Borkowski and senior Josh Miller also had solid swims for the boys on the 500 free.
On the boys 200 free relay, Senior Zach Mourar had a speedy 23.18 split. On the 100 back, juniors Caroline Cusack and Addy Compher finished first and second for the girls and freshman Shane Martin and junior Logan Seiss finished second and third for the boys. Senior Chayse Nunciato and junior Skylar Bailey had the fastest times for the Whippets on the 100 breast as did seniors Ike Durkan and Nathan Reynolds for the boys. Finally, both the girls 400 free relay (Sydney Martin, Cooper Jones, Caroline Cusack, and Leah Lacovara) and the boys 400 free relay (Logan Seiss, Shane Martin, Zach Mourar, and Henry Dennin) took first place.
We are amazed at so many great swims, District consideration times, and the overall team spirit this early in the season. The best is yet to come. Special thanks to our coaches for all that they do!
