DWHS Victory against Coatesville
Both the girls and boys teams won their meets against Coatesville yesterday. For the girls, the trio of freshman Morgan Harlan, junior Addy Compher, and freshman Allie Leamy took second, third, and fourth place on the 200 freestyle to win that event for the girls. Sophomore Cooper Jones, sophomore Abby Harlan, and junior Skylar Bailey then swept the 200 IM by taking first, second, and third place. On the 50 freestyle, senior Chayse Nunciato was West’s high scorer. The female Whippets then won the 100 butterfly with freshman Morgan Harlan, senior Callie Ritter, and sophomore Seraphim Rahardjo taking second, third, and fourth place. The girls also won the 100 freestyle with junior Leah Lacovara, sophomore Mary Kate Johnson, and freshman Miranda Marino taking first, fourth, and fifth place. On the 500 freestyle, freshman Ellie McNamara and junior Addy Compher zipped by the competition and had first and second place finishes, with McNamara picking up a new District consideration time. Then, senior Sydney Martin won the 100 backstroke and sophomore Mary Kate Johnson and junior Ella Bice secured the win by taking third and fifth place. On the 100 breaststroke, senior Chayse Nunciato, senior Anya Zebluim, and freshman Mia Enterline took second, third, and fifth place. Finally, both the girls 200 and 400 freestyle relays took first place.
The boys also had strong performances yesterday for a win. All three relays took first place and in many instances second place too. Freshman Shane Martin won the 200 freestyle and senior Josh Miller cinched the event for the boys by taking third place. Sophomore Henry Dennin and junior Logan Seiss had strong swims on the 200 IM for first and second place. Senior Zach Mourar won the 50 freestyle with a speedy swim and freshman Alexander Sheldon took third place, which allowed the boys to win that event. Freshman Sean Borkowski and junior Nick Gaasche took first and second place on the 100 butterfly. Then, senior Josh Miller outmuscled the competition on the 100 freestyle to win that event with freshman Alexander Sheldon also scoring points for the boys. On the 500 freestyle, juniors Connor Cianciulli and William Vaughen took first and second place. On the 100 backstroke, freshman Shane Martin, junior Logan Seiss, and junior Jack Sheldon came in first, second, and fourth. Finally, on the 100 breaststroke, junior Henry Dennin, senior Ike Durkin, and senior Nathan Reynolds finished second, third, and fourth.
Our divers continued to have strong performances. For the girls, junior Grace McNamara, junior Reilly Durkin, and freshman Mia Enterline finished first, second, and third. For the boys, sophomore Nolan Dobry, junior Micah Russell, and sophomore Jamie Compher finished first, second, and third.
