This Saturday, the Piranha Swim Team will be hosting a one-day, short course, Red/White meet for area swimmers. The meet kicks off at 9:00am with the 10 and unders, and the olders start at approximately 12:15. Let's all make sure we represent the Piranha name by wearing our YELLOW shirt. Today coach Vicky announced to the team that she will be leaving the Piranhas for a new adventure in her life. Vicky has given her all to the Piranha program as a coach and friend to us all. This past weekend, the Piranha Swim Team competed in our first long course event of the new year. It is always hard to readjust to the long pool but our swimmers showed that the hard work in the short course season has set them up for success in long course. This weekend, the Piranhas are heading to Riverside to swim the first long course meet of the season. This is a good opportunity to get prepared for the long course season and start re-focusing our goals for the summer. Since there is a meet, there will not be any practice on Saturday morning. Piranhas 4th at Eastern Champs! The Piranha swim team rounded out the 2010-2011 winter season with a 4th place combined team finish this past weekend at the Redlands Eastern Championship meet. Although the Piranha team was one of the smaller teams at the meet we competed at a very high level to garner the 4th place points. After a Season of great swims and team accomplishments, the Piranha swim team is going to have a week long swim camp performed by Head Coach Adam Schmitt along with his staff of coaches and senior level swimmers. The camp is geared towards instilling Adam's techniques and skill work that he has applied throughout his coaching career. The final session of the Junior Olympic meet in Long Beach proved to be a success. The team came into the day in 19th position and looked to remain in the top 20. The first event was the 100 free where both Kat Wickham and Indy Ceranic scored big points. In the 13-14 category, Kat swam a personal best preliminary swim of 54.13 and finished in the finals in 14th position.
