Nashville Aquatic Club is very fortunate to have someone with the depth of experience that Dr. Jim Johnson brings to the club. Nashville Aquatic Club sent 137 athletes to Atlanta, Georgia this past weekend to compete at the Georgia Tech Natatorium. Swimmers raced against host, Swim Atlanta's best, as well as a few from surrounding teams in Atlanta. The age group swimmers notched top times across the board. Top performances by Kallie Chelsvig and Garland Pierce started the meet on the right foot by placing in the top 8 in all 8 events over the weekend. Nashville Aquatic Club swimmers had standout performances as they hosted the 2012 October Open at the Centennial Sportsplex this past weekend. Record breaking swims were made across the program. Leading the way was Senior swimmer Taylor Charles in the 400 IM, 200 Butterfly and 200 IM. Our 13-14 girls, Annie Kyriakidis and Tatum Wade, smashed records in the 200 Breaststroke and 200 Freestyle, respectively. Megan Goss, a NAC alum and current member of the Northwestern University swim team, has organized a fundraiser for breast cancer at Northwestern - Breaststroke 4 Breast Cancer. Nashville Aquatic Club welcomed the Lakeside Seahawks and the Middle Tennessee Swim Club to the Sportsplex this past weekend for the second annual Duel in the Pool. Karinne Miller, a NAC alumnus, is being inducted into the Southeastern Swimming Hall of Fame in early October. Karinne, who was a silver medalist in the 200m butterfly at the Pan American Games, was also an 8-time National Finalist in individual events, and won a national championship and set an American Record on a relay. USA Swimming released it's 2011-2012 Scholastic All-America team, and the Nashville Aquatic Club is represented by 8 athletes, more than any other club in Southeastern Swimming. The 2012 Junior Pan Pacific Championships, held August 23-27 in Honolulu, Hawaii featured some of the fastest 18 and Under swimming this season from across the world. While Team USA walked off with the team title, NAC's Maclin Davis, competing once again for Team USA, was the 100-meter butterfly champion.
