18 athletes with Nashville Aquatic Club ties headed to Omaha, Nebraska to participate in the USA Swimming Olympic Team Trials. NAC, which had one of the largest contingents of athletes in the country, including college programs, had an extremely full eight days of competition. NAC Master's swimmer Jeff Ockerman grabbed a 4th place finish at the FINA World Masters Championships, held from June 3 - 17 in Riccione, Italy. Ockerman picked up his 4th place finish in the men's 55-59 200-meter backstroke, touching the wall in a time of 2:40.08. Congratulations to Jeff! The NAC Summer Sizzler, held from June 15-17, 2012 at both the Centennial Sportsplex in downtown Nashville, TN, and the Williamson County Indoor Sports Complex in Brentwood, TN produced incredible amounts of fast swimming. The meet produced seven new Olympic Trials qualifiers for teams in attendance. Teams from all across the country attended the meet, including Milwaukee, Cincinnati, Kansas City, Raleigh, and more! Congratulations to all of the NAC swimmers who competed at the Excel Stars and Stripes Meet! We had 2 NEW SES qualifiers from the Red Group - Sarah Francis Morris and William Massey. These swimmers are the 9th and 10th SES qualifiers from the Red Group, which means the group is 1/2 way to achieving the Red Group Goal of 20 SES qualifiers this season. Twenty-two members of the Nashville Aquatic Club senior group traveled to the University of Tennessee-Knoxville for the Swim and Tri Olympic Trials qualifier. With stiff collegiate competition from across the eastern seaboard, including Virginia, Harvard, Tennessee, West Virginia, and Georgia Tech, NAC athletes held their own against much older competition. NAC performances were highlighted by Olympic Trials qualifying times by Michelle Chintanaphol (200 Backstroke) and Elizabeth Stinson (400 Freestyle). The Nashville Aquatic club sent a group of 34 athletes to Louisville, Kentucky last weekend to compete at the Ohio Valley Championships. Despite the cold weather, NAC swimmers stepped up to compete! Kallie Chelsvig, Bailey Flynn, Valerie Bates, Austin Morris and Lettie Williams were among an elite group, winning one or more events at the OVC Championships. Congratulations to all of the athletes that competed in Louisville last weekend! NAC swimmers will be ready to compete again next weekend as they host the 8th annual Nike Summer Sizzler.
