Welcome to Penguins Summer Swim Team

The Penguins is our Summer League swim team that competes in RACE Summer League agaisnt other local Summer teams.  Penguins is a great option for competitive swimming for anyone that is not quite ready to jump fully into year-round swimming.

Who can join?

Any swimmer regardless of ability are welcome to join the Penguins.   

Age 3 to 18 years old as of June 1. 

Penguins Skill Levels

Peeps: Level 1 – Swim Lessons | Ages 3–6, Must Be Potty Trained

Peeps: Level 1- Swim Lessons  is designed for our youngest swimmers. Participants must be potty trained. The focus of this group is on:

  • Water safety
  • Blowing bubbles
  • Floating on front and back
  • Gaining comfort and confidence in the water
  • Having fun while advancing basic swimming skills

Important Details:

  • This age group does not participate in swim meets.
  • Practice times will be determined based on age and experience.
  • Experienced 6-year-old swimmers may be eligible to move up to the competitive team.

Penguins: Levels 2–6 | Ages 6–18

The Penguins are for swimmers who are ready to take their skills to the next level! This group is perfect for swimmers who can swim the length of the pool unassisted and want to build stronger strokes, gain confidence, and be part of a supportive, team-focused environment.

Swimmers in Penguins will be introduced to all four strokes, learn the fundamentals of competitive swimming, and discover what it’s like to race with teammates cheering them on. Each swimmer will be evaluated and assigned a skill level from 2 to 6 to ensure they are placed in the group that best matches their abilities.

They’ll have the chance to compete in Summer RACE League meets and the season Championship, all while having fun, making friends, and celebrating every milestone in the pool!

 

Practice Times 

- Level 2: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 3:30-4:30

- Level 3:Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 3:30-4:30

- Level 4:Monday-Thursday 3:30-4:30, Friday 4:00-5:00 

- Level 5: Monday-Friday 4:30-6:00

- Level 6: Monday-Friday 4:00-6:00 ; Saturday 7:30-9:00am

Swim Meets

  • Swimmers will be automatically signed up for meets. Please notify the coach at least one week in advance if your swimmer cannot attend a meet.
  • We will be hosting home meets and traveling to away meets.
  • The end-of-season Championship Meet will be held at the Sewanee Swim Natatorium (Date: TBD).
  • Competing at swim meets is not required but strongly encouraged.
  • To participate in the Championship Meet, swimmers must attend at least two meets during the season.

Parent Volunteer Requirements

  • Parents are required to volunteer at a minimum of two meets.
  • If we do not have enough volunteers at a meet, you may be asked to help if you are present.
