Checklist for Coaches

Safety Requirements Explained

• Create a USA Swimming Account

1. Go to usaswimming.org and click LOGIN
2. Click on the CREATE A LOGIN button
3. Follow the instructions
4. Add your information 
5. Follow the directions to setup your account

• REGISTER and pay for a USAS/KYLSC non-athlete Coach Membership. 
  For Unattached coaches, contact the KY Swimming office at [email protected]
  For coaches working with a USAS club, contact your club registrar or admin for the club specific registration link.
   
  1. Use the registration link 
  2. Login using your USAS account userrname and password
  3. Click on the REGISTER NEW MEMBER button
  4. Click on I AM REGISTERING MYSELF
  5. Complete the forms
  6. Complete the Waiver and Agreements
  7. Select COACH member
  8. Continue and checkout

• ​COMPLETE COACH REQUIREMENTS

1. Go to usaswimming.org, and login to your USAS account
2. Click on EDUCATION (blue ribbon menu item)
3. Select COURSE CATALOG
4. Click on the COACHES button
5. Click on REQUIREMENTS button and complete the following:
   • Athlete Protection Training
   • USAS Background Check 
   • Coach's Advantage Tutorial USADA  
   • Quality Coaching Framework
   • Welcome to USA Swimming 
   • Rules and Regulations Exam (completed within 365 days of registration)
   • Core Certification full Course (completed within 365 days of registration)
6. Take in person and submit certificates to the KY Swimming office. [email protected]
   • CPR
   • Safety Training for Coaches American Red Cross online course
     Must be completed before in-water STSC

   • Safety Training for Coaches in-water (can be a lifeguarding certification)
     In-water checklist
   • Concussion Protocol Training (CDC) (complete course and forward certificate to [email protected])

Coaches must maintain a current certification at all times.
