ONLINE SPECIAL TEAMS COACH APPLICATION

The Team Kentucky Staff Selection Committee (Kentucky Coaches Rep, Age Group Vice-Chair, Senior Vice-Chair, and Athlete Senior Rep) will select the coaches for special teams. 

SELECTION CRITERIA

  1. Coaching applicants must complete an online application in within the specified deadline.
  2. All coaching applicants will be evaluated based upon the following criteria: a) years of club coaching experience, b) Team Kentucky coaching experience, c) camp coaching experience and d) swimming clinics attended.
  3. Applicants for this position will be evaluated based upon the above as well as their previously demonstrated abilities to lead and administrate effectively.
  4. The Team Kentucky Selection Committee will select the head coach.  Once the head coach is selected, The Committee will approve recommendations for assistant coaches if deemed necessary.

HEAD COACH DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Pre-Meet

  1. Head coach must sign and abide by the USA Swimming Code of Conduct & Team Kentucky Travel Policies
  2. Provide contact information for athletes, coaches and parents to insure good communication
  3. Draft a pre-meet letter to be sent to swimmers and parents. Coordinate this with the Kentucky Team Manager
  4. Communicate with athletes’ club coaches to determine entries.
  5. Complete and submit entries using the KYLSC Special Teams Team Unify.

HEAD COACH DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - During the Meet

  1. Attend all official Meet Administrative meetings and disperse obtained information to attending swimmers and coaches
  2. Communicate schedule with coaches and athletes
  3. Determine relay line-ups and submit appropriately
  4. Post all times for warm-ups for swimmers
  5. Be an enthusiastic leader for the swimmers as well as the entire staff

HEAD COACH DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – Post-Meet

  1. Provide a written report to Kentucky Swimming.  The report should include how the meet was run, how well it was attended and any other pertinent information for future recommendations
