The Marlin swimmers averaged over 2 best times each as they showed great impovement in Dual Meet #2. Marlins swimming best times in all 3 of their events included: Steve Goertz, Christine Hering, Maggie Higgins, Bjorn Leigh, Nathaniel Ludwig, Kylie McDonald, Sierra McDonald, Morgan McEwen, Emily Olson, Amanda Pan, Dylan Schwartzmiller, Mieko Schwartzmiller, Ella Staniford, and Jade Whittlesey. Of the 12 Marlins at the KING Invite 11 swam prelim-final events and all 11 made finals in 1 or more of those events! bindi Pedersen led the way with 10 finals includin 7 victories. Madie Elsner had 3 finals including an epic PNS qualifying time in the 200 free. Rachel Hartmeyer, Chris Anderson, Emily Jacobson, and Jeffrey Lozensky each earned 6 finals. Melody Coleman, Maggie Delaney, Matt Owen, Nathaniel Goldor, and Karoline Schaufler each had 1 or more finals as well.
Abby Magee won the kids version of the Clear Lake Triathlon followed closely by Maggie Delaney in 4th. Peter Shanholtz also did very well as did his sister Maria. Addison Lee was a strong 23rd completing the bike leg on a Unicycle. In the adult version Michael Lee took 8th overall and 3rd in his age group. Also the team of Kara Libra, Elle Lee, and Dawn Lee was, a very strong, 2nd team overall. Way to go multi-talented Marlins!
Frisbee golf in Lake Stevens was a hoot! Piper Lee won the overall Star Award for hitting her Frisbee off a tree and then off her forehead. Everyone survived despite attacks by wayward squirrels and woodpeckers!
Several Marlins had multiple best times at the Pac-Coast Meet in Federal Way. Leading the way were Jetlyn Hau and Leah Taylor with 6 best times each. Jeffrey Lozensky and Karlie Rimat had 5 best times each. Hoylynn and Lloyd Hau chipped in with 4 each, Madie Elsner 3, Skylar Van Der Puttemn and Bjorn Leigh 2, and Bindi Pedersen and Skyler Walker 1 each. The meet proved to be a great meet for our new swimmers swimming their first ever long course competition.

A simple plastic duck was the prize for winning your heat at the Dick Hannula Classic in Port Orchard. What it became was Sid from Toy Story as, not only did our swimmers win a flock of ducks, but they cut their heads off and created a scary situation. On Sunday at the Summer Splash Long Course Meet a coach from a nearby club asked me how we train for the 400 free since our Marlins did so well on Saturday in that event. One thing I told him was that the way our swimmers attack each and every set in practice makes the 400 free a simple sprint. Every Marlin was a winner in our prime goal for the Apple Capital Meet. We had fun and we all got to know each other a little better. By the way our 11-12 year old boy and girl, Erik Anderson and Bindi Pedersen were high point winners!
The Marlins brought home a bunch of awards even though only 9 swimmers competed at the Spring Sockeye in Federal Way. Bindi Pedersen led the way with 5 golds and a silver medal. Karlie Rimat earned a gold, 2 silvers, and 4 ribbons. Melody Coleman earned 2 silvers, a bronze and 2 ribbons. Abby Magee also won a gold and took a bronze and 4 ribbons.
