Three Mighty Marlins competed at the incredibly tough Senior Sectional Meet in Federal Way! Melody Coleman Led the way with great swims in the 400 IM, 200 IM, and 100 breaststroke. She was 47th in the 100 breaststroke with a very fast 1:05.86 clocking. Jeffrey Lozensky swam all the toughest events competing in the 400 IM and the 500, 1000, and 1650 freestyle. Jeffrey hit the top 100 in both the distance events. Abby Magee swam a very strong 200 butterfly at the meet.
Maggie Delaney swam best time in each event she swam and bettered it again in finals each time. That kind of swimming shows incredible endurance, competing in 6 events in one day and improving with each swim. Leah Taylor also had a rash of best times tallying 8. Chris Anderson coming off a very strong high school season had 5 best times and Jeffrey Lozensky, Matt Owen and Nathaniel Goldor, also straight from high school each had multiple best times. Bjorn Leigh and Lauren Carson did their first ever 1000 freestyle and did very well at the Storm Distance Meet in Lake Stevens. Abby Magee, Josh Christos, Skyler Walker and Kirby Schaufler also did the 1000. Skyler knocked nearly a full minute off her time and Josh improved 33 seconds. In the 1650 Maggie Delaney had a strong race and Karlie Rimat dropped 42 seconds to make a sectional time. Congratulations to all our amazing distance swimmers!
Isabella Bennet led the best time bonanza at the Feb. Challenge in Bellingham. She had best times of over 13 seconds in the 100 back, and 8 seconds in the 100 fly and 100 free. Huge time drops were also turned in by Grace Johnson dropping 26 seconds in the 500 free, and Skyler Walker shaving off over 15 seconds in the 200 IM and 200 free. Madelyn Butler Won the 50 butterfly at the Snowflake Invitational with an outstanding time of 34.10. She was also 2nd in the 100 free, and 3rd in the 50 breaststroke! Julian Bunney led the way for the boys with an 11th place finish in the 25 freestyle!
Oddly enough this year the Washington Open boasted strong teams from California and 4 other states including Washington and proved to be a very competitive meet. Over 250 swimmers competed in many events. Melody Coleman led the way making finals in the 100 breaststroke. Way to go Melody!
The Mighty Marlins swam their way to 86 best times at the Jan. Challenge in Anacortes. Erik Anderson led the way with 7 personal bests, Caitlyn Anderson had 5, and Hoylynn Hau, Gideon & Laird Marlatt, Karriann Paxton, Mieko Schwartzmiller, and Anna Veazey each tallied 4. The championship meet for senior swimmers in Federal Way, The Washington State Championships, boasted very strong competition. Melody Coleman led the way with an impressive 2:23.95 for 7th in the 200 breaststroke. She also finaled in the 400 IM and 100 breaststroke. Over 50 teams competed at the AG PNS Champs in Federal Way. With a small but very strong group the Marlins took 12th overall behind 25 top 16 finishes turned in by 6 swimmers. Bindi pedersen led the way for the Marlins with 2-2nds, 2-3rds, a 4th and a 6th to score 94 points. Abby Magee also had 6 scoring swims with 2-5ths, a 6th, 7th, 8th, and 13th for 68 points.
