Jetlynn Hau is turning 11 before PNS Champs but she went ahead and qualified for the 11 year old times in 3 events as a 10 year old at the Spring T-Bird Meet. Jetlynn made the 50 back and the 50 and 100 breaststroke. In the process Jetlynn won 5 events. No other Marlin had a victory but several had multiple top 10 finishes. The "Run With Your Peeps" Marlins Fun Run was a great success as Marlins tried their skill at a sport other than swimming! All had fun in the bright sun!
The events came fast and furious at the May Flowers meet in Federal Way. The meet was a senior meet with all ages compeing together. Still several Marlins cracked the top 10. Bindi Pedersen won the 200 IM and also had 2-2nds, a 5th and a 6th. Melody Coleman was 2nd in the 200 breast and also had a 4th. Jeffrey Lozensky also took a 4th in the 1500 free. Chris Andersom, Tanner Desjardins, Madie Elsner, Goldor the Great, Abby Magee, and Karlie Rimat also had strong swims.
Even though many events had well over 100 swimmers, and medals were only awarded for top 3 and ribbons top 8, the Mighty Marlins still came home with a heavy bag full of awards! Bindi Pedersen led the way with 8 first place medals winning all of her events. Melody Coleman also had a victory in the 400 IM and earned 2nds in the 200 breast and 200 IM. The Mighty Marlins Swim Club Dominated much of the competition at our own beloved Marlin Madness Meet in Marysville last weekend. Finish times were combined for all 6 events of the sextathlon to determine overall winners, who recieved a plaque. Swimmers who placed 2nd through 6th overall recieved a beautiful medal. The Dessert Auction was again a huge succes at the Marlins banquet earning over $400.00. Thank you to all who participated. Abby Magee and Bindi Pedersen Medaled in all 6 of their events at the Age Group Sectional Meet in Federal Way. Bindi took top honors in the 200 fly and the 200 and 400 IM, and was second in the 100 fly and 100 and 200 breaststroke. In a meet featuring Missy Franklin the Marlins had their own star, Bindi Pedersen. Bindi broke the 11-12 year old girls record for the 200 breaststroke with a 2:24.44. The previous record was held by the Olympic Champion in the 100 breaststroke Megan Quann. The Marlins also featured Melody Coleman in the 100 and 200 breaststroke and the 400 IM, Abby Magee in the 200 fly, and Jeffrey Lozensky in the 1000, and 1650 free.
Wearing a new fast suit and possessing a great attutude Rachel placed in the top 8 in all 6 of her events, and made 2 new Sectional qualifying times. Karoline Schaufler, Representing SOKA University, took top 16 honors at NAIA Nationals in Oklahoma City. Karoline broke 3 Soka University records in the process taking 10th in the 200 butterfly, and 16th in the 100 butterfly and 400 IM. Pictured you see members of the SOKA University team! Karoline also swam in 5 scoring relays pacing SOKA to a 15th place finish at NAIA Nationals!
