In a meet featuring Missy Franklin the Marlins had their own star, Bindi Pedersen.  Bindi broke the 11-12 year old girls record for the 200 breaststroke with a 2:24.44.  The previous record was held by the Olympic Champion in the 100 breaststroke Megan Quann.  The Marlins also featured Melody Coleman in the 100 and 200 breaststroke and the 400 IM, Abby Magee in the 200 fly, and Jeffrey Lozensky in the 1000, and 1650 free. 

Wearing a new fast suit and possessing a great attutude Rachel placed in the top 8 in all 6 of her events, and made 2 new Sectional qualifying times.  Rachel was 2nd in the 200 back, 3rd in the 200 IM, 4th in the 200 fly, 5th in the 100 back, and 6th in the 100 fly and 200 free. Karoline Schaufler, Representing SOKA University, took top 16 honors at NAIA Nationals in Oklahoma City.  Karoline broke 3 Soka University records in the process taking 10th in the 200 butterfly, and 16th in the 100 butterfly and 400 IM. Pictured you see members of the SOKA University team! Karoline also swam in 5 scoring relays pacing SOKA to a 15th place finish at NAIA Nationals!

The Mighty Marlins chalked up 8 new Age Group Sectional Qualifying times at the Age Group Invitational at Kamiak High School.  Karlie Rimat led the way with new times in the 100 and 200 breast, and the 200 free.  Maggie Delaney added times in the 400 IM and 200 free.  Erik Anderson added to his 3 qualifying times with the 100 back.  Emily Jacobson made her first time this year with a very fast 2:18.99 in the 200 fly, and Jetlynn Hau made her first ever championship standard with a...

Five of our 6 Marlins hit best times in their distance events at the Storm Distance Meet.  Elle Lee, Bindi Pedersen, and Skyler Walker had bests in the 1000 free, and Karlie Rimat and Maggie Delane had bests in the 1650! Way to go Marlins!

  Welcome to baby Marina Susannah Josephine Jenks! Coach Meredith had her baby!  Marina was born on February 2, 2013 at 10:20 pm, weighing 8 lbs. 15 oz and 19 1/2 inches long. Congratulations to Meredith, Marc and Madeleine on their sweet new addition to their family!

Erik Anderson won all 6 of his events at the Feb. All 3 of the Marlins at the snowflake invitational scored a top 4 finish in at least 1 event. Madelynn Butler won the 25 fly and was second in the 25 free and breast.  Parker Mills scored a third in the 25 fly, and Caitlyn Anderson had 4ths in both the 50 and 100 free! 

Splash Magazine annually lists the top 10 swims in the country in each age group.  In the January issue the list of best short course times of 2011-2012 includes the Mighty Marlins own Bindi Pedersen.  Bindi had the fastest time in the entire United States of America in the 200 butterfly as an 11 year old with a 2:11.98 clocking.  She also made top 10 in the country in the 200 breaststroke-4th, 100 breaststroke-6th, 50 breaststroke-7th, and 100 butterfly-8th. Bindi Pedersen took 11th in the 200 fly at the Washington Open Meet (A meet for senior swimmers).  However, as the only 12 year old in the final she beat a PNS record that had been held since 1994 by clocking a 2:08.73 in the 200 Butterfly! Other notable swims were turned in by Rachel Hartmeyer as she made an Age Group Sectional qualifying time by dropping 4.66 seconds in the 400 IM.  She also had solid drops in the 100 fly and back.
