The Marlins again celebrated a fabulous season! The dessert raffle was a huge succes raising $425 for our Mighty Marlins and leading to extensive gum chewing! The Ludwig cake was a big hit! Most Imroved Swimmers included: Anna Veazey, Karlie Rimat, Piper Lee, Russell Swanson, Sarp Orgul, and Melody Coleman! Most Outstanding Swimmers included: Madelynn Butler, Leah Taylor, Bindi Pedersen, Ben Rosenthal, Christina Domanowski, Jeffrey Lozensky, Jenni Domanowski, and Colin Willis!
Three Marlins won events, 7 took top 8 honors winning medals, and all 11 had best times as Marlins on route to an impressive 11th place finish in a field of over 400 teams in a 12 state area. Bindi Pedersen led the scoring with firsts in the 50 breast, 100 and 200 fly and 200 IM, 2nd in the 100 breast, and 3rd in the 200 breast. Jenni Domanowski swam a strong race for 5th in the 200 butterfly at the Senior Sectional Meet in Federal Way. The meet boasts the fastest swimmers from a 12 state area and included several Olympians. In additional to her stellar swim in the 200 fly Jenni also finaled in the 100 fly and 400 IM. Christina Domanowski also finaled in 2 events the 200 fly and the 400 free taking 29th and 22nd. Rachel Hartmeyer was the star of day 1 at Divisional Champs taking 7th in the 200 free and 8th in the 100 backstroke. On day 2 Karoline Schaufler had 2 top 8 finishes with a 3rd in the 100 fly and a 7th in the 200 breaststroke. Sarp orgul also made top 16 for the older swimmers with 12th in the 200 breaststroke and 13th in the 200 IM, as did Erin Delaney with a 16th in the 200 butterfly. Mel got her first sectional time in the 100 fly on her way to 9th at the AG Invite at Kamiak. She added a 10th 11th and 12th as well. Karlie Rimat added 4 sectional times on her way to a 2nd 2-3rds, a 5th, 6th, and 8th. Jeffrey Lozensky led the way dropping 46 seconds in his 1000 free at the Storm Distance meet. Bindi dropped 30 seconds in her 1000 and swam her 1st ever 1650. Maggie Delaney posted a 15 second time drop and Abby Magee took off more than 8 seconds. The Marlins just keep getting stronger!!
Karlie Rimat made Sectionals in the 200 fly and 200 IM at the February Challenge at Kamiak pool! Both were time drops of over 3 seconds. Many Marlins had large time drops as well and Abby Magee and Jeffrey Lozensky each added 2 new Sectional qualifying times. Nathaniel Ludwig and Bindi Pedersen led the way with 7 best times each.
