  Julie Delaney led the way with a first place in the 200 breaststroke at the PNA Masters Champs in Federal Way!  Jan Coleman, Katy Magee and Kirby Schaufler all chipped in with top 3 finishes!  Marcy Thill on the verge of total dominance at the meet, fell ill and was unable to destroy her competition.

  Twelve Marlins spent a rainy but spectacular day at the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle!  The highlight of the day was the feeding of the birds in the "Bird Room".

  In a meet that featured the best swimmers from 9 Western States the Mighty Marlins proved they are one of the elite clubs in the area by taking 8th in a field of over 150 teams that attended the meet, and another 500 or more that didn’t even have any qualifiers for this prestigous meet!   Six Marlins had the fastest time for 5 combined events at the Spring Grand Pentathlon! Bindi Pedersen was the 8 & under star.  Christina Domanowski dominated the 10 year olds. Holly Shoemaker won for the 11 year old girls and Sarp Orgul was the boy champ!  Rachel Hartmeyer was first for 13 year olds and Karoline Schaufler was the 15 & over champion!   Thanks to beastly training, and the right amount of enthusiasm the Mighty Marlins Women’s 800 Free Relay bettered the time standard of 7:49.79 and quallified for NSCA Jr. Nationals in Florida.  The enthusiasm was shared by everyone but the catalyst was Jewel LeValley who had figured out what each person needed to do for the team to make the standard, and most importantly Jewel had to have over a second time drop for it to be possible.  A 1:57.44 average is what was needed!   The Mighty Marlins took 14 people to the meet, yet took second in the 14 team field!  They were led by Christina Domanowski who won all 8 of her events!  Jennifer Domanowski had 6 victories of her own.  Morgan Ginnis had 3 wins and Bindi Pedersen, and Hannah Taylor each had 2 wins. Melody Coleman also took a first.  Aaron Goff, Jewel LeValley, Abby Magee, Sarp Orgul, Amy Renslo, Nathan Schaffer, and Lindsay Vanderhoff also scored points for the Marlins.

The hard work the swimmers have been putting in is paying off as many Marlins had best times in Bellingham!  Shelby Schumann led the way with 8 best times, Erin Delaney, and Sarp Orgul had seven each.  Maggie Delaney registered 6 best times as did Leah Taylor and both swam the 500 free for the first time.  Swimmers with 5 bests included: Melody Coleman, and Madison Rossnagle.  Jensen Corbett had 4 best times and Christina Domanowski, Elle Lee, Abby Magee, Karoline Schaufler, Holly Shoemaker, Logan Stich, and Hannah Vincelette each garnered...

Morgan Ginnis has made the Top 10 List in the Jan/Feb 2009 issue of Splash Magazine!  It means she achieved one of the 10 fastest swims in the United States of America this year for someone her age.  She is top 10 in 2 events: Ninth in the 100 meter free with a time of 1:00.93, and fifth in the 200 meter backstroke clocking a PNS record 2:26.84. Way to go Morgan!

  Leah Taylor and Bindi Pedersen won all 3 of their events at the Snowflake Invitational.  Leah won the 25 free, 25 breast, and 25 fly, and Bindi won the 100 IM, 50 breast, and 50 fly!  Abby Magee also had a win in the 100 IM and took 2nd in the 50 fly and 3rd in the 50 free.  Jensen Corbett scored two 2nds and a 3rd, and Xander Corbett, Maggie Delaney, and Mel Lofton notched best times.  The Marlins finished 6th overall in the meet!

  In a meet that featured several Olympians the Marlins filled finals with exceptional swims.  Jennifer Domanowski made top 8 in 1 event winning the 200 fly, she also placed 10th in the 100 fly, 12th in the 200 IM and 500 free, 15th in the 200 back, 22nd in the 100 back and 24th in the 200 free.  Morgan Ginnis made top 8 in 2 events with a 5th place finish in the 100 back and an 8th in the 200 back.
