CW Swimmers Did Not Disappoint at the Biggest Competition To Date
Ontario “Spring Forward” Championship Meet

The weekend of April 7-10 saw a Team of 23 Club Warrior swimmers return to Windsor after competing there two weeks earlier. This time the CW group was competing in the Swim Ontario’s hosted “Spring Forward Meet” - To be eligible to compete in this meet a swimmer needed a minimum of one Ontario Youth/Junior or Festival qualifying time. There were two other similar meets held at the same time in other cities in Ontario. These meets were replacing the Ontario Festival, Youth/Junior, and the Ontario Age Group Championships which were cancelled earlier this season due to the Covid-19.
This was CW’s biggest competition to date and our swimmers did not disappoint us. Although Swim Ontario opted not to award medals, the competition was still hotly contested. Head Coach Russ Franklin remarked “It was a shame that Swim Ontario elected to run these meets without Medal Recognition since all the swimmers have been denied that opportunity for the past two years.” Franklin added, “We had multiple “A” and “B” Finalists that would have placed the Warriors in 3rd/ 4th overall, despite the many disappointing scratches CW had for the Sunday night’s Finals.”
Leading the way for Club Warriors were 14 year olds; Jessica Dreghici, Willow Coburn, Cameron Morrissey, Quinn Logan, Elizabeth Coode and 15 yr. olds; Evan Hodson, Ellie Kim, Mackenna Riel, and 17 yr. old Hannah Wagner.
