New Club Record & PBs at the Summer Ontario Swimming Championships 2023

The Summer Ontario Swimming Championships took place July 6th-9th, 2023 in Toronto. This meet is a provincial championship with Ontario’s highest level qualifying standards.
 
We had an amazing 16 qualifiers at the event:
 
Sarah C, Quinn L, Elizabeth C, Willow C, Jessica D Rodrigo O, Connor B, Owen I, Alan S, Alex R, Dylan J, Michael Y, Evan H, Cristian C
plus Hayley M and Cameron M, who could not be at the meet.
 
By the Numbers:
  • CW Placed 22nd out of 77 teams
  • 22 Top Ten Finalists
  • 2 Gold Medals, 1 Silver Medal, 3 Bronze Medals
  • 1 New Canadian Junior Championship (CJC) National Qualifier
  • 2 Additional CJC qualifying times
  • 1 New Trials Qualifier
  • 3 Additional Trials qualifying times
  • 1 New Club Record  
A big congratulations also to all of our swimmers who made the CJC qualifying standards while of the age, but then age-up before the meet.
 
 

Thursday 6th July

On the first day, we had 10 swimmers compete.
 
  • 50 Free: Sarah C, Quinn L, Jessica D, Rodrigo O (PB), Dylan J (PB), Evan H (PB), Cristian C
  • 200 Breaststroke: Willow C (PB), Alan S, Owen I, Alex R
  • 800 Free: Jessica D (PB)

Day 1 finalists:

  • Jessica D, 5th, 800 Free, Women 16 and older 
  • Evan H, 9th, 50 Free, Men 16 (new CJC qualifier)
  • Willow C, 2nd, 200 Breast (new CJC and Trials qualifying time), Women 15
  • Alex R, 10th, 200 Breast, Men 15

Friday 7th July

11 fabulous swimmers. 
  • 200 Free: Quinn L, Jessica D, Rodrigo O, Evan H (PB), Cristian C (PB)
  • 400 IM: Willow C, Connor B (PB)
  • 100 Fly: Sarah C (PB), Elizabeth C (PB), Dylan J (PB), Michael Y (PB)

Day 2 finalists:

  • Evan H, 10th 200 free, Men 16 
  • Willow C, 1st 400 IM, Women 15
  • Connor B, 6th 400 IM, Boys 14
  • Sarah C, 4th 100 fly, Girls 14
  • Elizabeth C, 3rd 100 fly, Women 15 (new Trials qualifier and new club record 1:03.78)
  • Michael Y, 4th 100 fly, Men 16 (new CJC qualifying time)

Saturday 8th July

We had the whole crew for the day! All 14 swimmers.

Day 4 finalists: 

  • Willow C, 1st 200 IM and 4th 200 Back, Women 15 (New trials time for 200 IM)

  • Jessica D, 7th 400 Free, Women 16 and over
After an impressive two golds and a silver, Willow finished 2nd amongst all 15 year old girls.
