The Langley Olympians Swim Club swimmers competed in their first official Swim Meet since March of 2020. Five (5) Langley Olympians participated in the Spartan CSI Pacific Athletes Meet in Chilliwack BC. This meet welcomed seven (7) teams within the Lower Mainland area from May 21st – 23rd. This was a great meet for the Langley Olympians Swim Club swimmers who placed first overall and reach the podium in 11 events. Congratulations to Leila Fack (14 yrs), for breaking the Female 14 yrs and Under LCM Club Record in the 200 Freestyle during an effort swim session held last Friday, May 14. Over the past six weeks, LOSC swimmers from Provincial, Age Group Performance, and National Groups particiated in the Swim BC Challenge Set Initiative. Over 500 swimmers from 28 clubs in BC particiated in the challenge. There are nine (9) categories for the meet: Swimmers born 2008 and younger, 2007-2006, 2005-2004, 2003 and older, Para, and Varsity. Both male and female athletes each have their own ranking board. LOSC swimmers have been participating in the SBC Challenge Test Sets. These sets are done in practice and we send in results to Swim BC every 2 weeks. These sets aims to help swimmers "compete" and see how they rank against some of their peers in the province. At the end of the challenge, Swim BC will be awarding top swimmers in their age category. LOSC coaches won two awards during the BC Swim Coaches Association Awards presentations held last Thursday, April 8. These awards were for the 2019-2020 season. . Brian Metcalfe, CEO/Head Coach of the Langley Olympians Swim Club won the Junior National Coach of the Year. The award is based off the highest ranking FINA Point performance in an Olympic Event held Long Course from September 1, 2019 to August 31, 2020.
