Events tonight included Women’s 800 Freestyle, Men’s 1500 Freestyle, Women’s and Men’s 200 IM, and Women’s and Men’s 50 Freestyle. Two Langley Olympian Swimmers swam today. DAY 3 PRELIMS UPDATE & CLUB RECORD ALERT! What a swim! Hugh McNeill won the heat in the 1500 FR with a best time of 15:47.89. Hugh closed/finished his last 100 metres with a split of 59 seconds! In the process, he broke the LOSC 1500 Open Club Record by 20.94 seconds set in 2019. Old club record was set by Hugh. Great swim Hugh! Bailey Herbert finished 7th overall with a time of 2:16.85. Last night showcased various veteran and rookie swimmers that qualified for the 2020 Olympic Games. The second day of the Canadian Olympic Trials showcased potential medalists in the Women’s 200 Freestyle, the Women’s 4x200 Freestyle Relay, Women’s 100 Breaststroke, and Men’s 100 Breaststroke. In the 2020 Trials, Swimming Canada also decided to use 10 lanes for the finals instead of 8 lanes, providing 2 more slots for swimmers that can potentially qualify. Current Langley Olympian National Group Swimmer Hugh McNeill made the 100 Backstroke Final and finished 9th overall with a time of 56.37s. This selection event is to select swimmers for the postponed 2020 Olympic Games scheduled for July 23-August 8 2021. The Langley & Abbotsford Olympians Swim Club will be doing July swimming this year at the Walnut Grove Pool! We expect the schedule to very similar to what we already have at the Walnut Grove Pool. Congratulations to Katie Schroeder (15 yrs), for breaking the Female 15-17 yrs and Senior/Open LCM Club Record in the 200 Backstroke during an effort swim session held last Saturday, May 29.
