Dolphin 3 (12 years old & under)
Practice Days: practices are offered 5 days per week for one hour each day; attendance is recommended 2-3 days per week.
Initial Ability: swim non-stop 25 of freestyle and backstroke and almost legal in a third stroke.
Group Description:
- Swimmer/Instructor Expected Ratio: 15 to 1
- Instruction in proper body position leaving wall: correct body position, pull pattern, kick pattern for each of the four strokes.
- Development of starts off the wall, turns, and finishes for each of the four strokes.
- Local meets are recommended.
Equipment used during practice includes fins and kick boards.
Dolphin 2 (12 years old & under) [more advanced than Dolphin 3]
Practice Days: practices are offered 5 days per week for one hour each day; attendance is recommended 2-3 days per week.
Initial Ability: swim nonstop 25yd each of Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, and Butterfly; comfortable in deep water.
Group Description:
- Swimmer/Instructor Expected Ratio: 18 to 1
- Continued development of all four strokes.
- Development of correct starts, open turns, and finishes for each of the four strokes.
- Local meets are recommended.
Equipment used during practice includes fins and kick boards.
Dolphin 1 (12 years old & under) [most advanced Dolphin Group]
Practice Days: practices are offered 5 days per week for one hour each day; attendance is recommended 3-4 days per week.
Initial Ability: swim nonstop 50yd each of Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, and Butterfly including 100IM.
Group Description:
- Comfortable in deep water.
- Swimmer/Instructor Expected Ratio: 20 to 1
- Work on refining of all four strokes and endurance level for 100yd and 200IM.
- Continued development of correct starts off blocks, flip turns and open turns, and finishes for each of the four strokes.
- Develop basic pace clock skills
- Participation in monthly meets is recommended.
