Bruno Darzi

  • HEAD COACH
  • AGE: 45

EDUCATION BACKGROUND: 

Graduated from UFRJ, one of the top institutions in Brazil with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education in 2002.

COACHING BACKGROUND: 

25-year coaching career, the Olympic-caliber coach has coached several Olympic swimmers including five-time Olympian Dara Torres and three-time Olympians Vlad Polyakov and Arlene Semeco and senior, junior and collegiate swimmers. Darzi has coached on the international scene including the Summer Olympics, Pan American Championships and South American Championships.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS: 

In 2023, Coach Darzi was elected the Southern Zone Coach Director, and he currently represents 15 Local Swimming Committees from 9 different states. He was also elected as the new General Chair for the Florida Gold Coast Swimming (FGC). He has been a FGC Board Member since 2014 where he has served as the Broward County Coaches' Representative (2014-2018), At-Large Member (2018-2021) and Admin Vice Chair (2021-2023).

A former national-caliber swimmer for Brazil and CSSC…since taking over the head age group position at CSSC in 2004, has had several swimmers produce numerous National Top 10 times, broken Florida Gold Coast and club records…has been chosen as a member of the FGC All-Star coaching staff in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 and also a five-time member of the Southern Zone Team Championships FGC coaching staff…in his first year of coaching was awarded the "Spirit Award."…ASCA Level 5-certified, highest level attainable. He earned the ASCA Age Group of the Year award in 2006 and 2009.

Coach Darzi is a certified personal trainer from NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine) with specialization in PES (Performance Enhancement), CNC (Certified Nutrition Coach) as well as CES (Corrective Exercise).

 

Birgit "Biggi" Lohberg

EDUCATION BACKGROUND: 

Graduated from Florida Atlantic University as a CPA and member of the Accounting Honor Society.

COACHING BACKGROUND: 

Heads the SwimAmerica program in Coral Springs and works with most of the kids who join the swim team. SwimAmerica gives every swimmer proper stroke technique.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS: 

Represented West Germany at the 1988 Olympics in Seoul, South Korea where she finished tenth in the 200- and 400-meter individual medley…Finished sixth at the 1986 World Championships in the 200-meter individual medley…European Championships multi-medalist, nine-year member of the German national team and won several national championships…a member of Coral Springs Masters where she is an All-American, national and world age group record holder…ASCA Level 4-certified.

 

Sam McCormick

  • Senior Group Coach/ Masters Coach
  • AGE: 22
  • BORN: St. Louis, Missouri

EDUCATION BACKGROUND: 

Graduated from Coral Springs Charter High School and went to FSU for 2 years before transferring to Broward Community College studying accounting.

COACHING BACKGROUND: 

Started as an assistant coach for Coach Jessica’s Mullins groups. Swam for Coral Springs Swim Club for 9 years specializing in breaststroke events.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS: 

Coach Sam coaches the Masters Program morning group as well as Senior 1 and Senior 2.

 

 

Brittany Bellomo

  • Age Group Coach
  • AGE: 32
  • BORN: Plantation, FL
  • RESIDES: Coral Springs, FL
  • ASCA Level 5 (ed.) Certified

 

EDUCATION BACKGROUND: 

Swam 2 years of NCAA D1 swimming before tranferring to the Univeristy of Central Florida where she graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Communications. She is currently a 7th grade English Language Arts' teacher at Coral Springs Charter School.

COACHING BACKGROUND: 

Current coach for the White, Blue and Silver Groups. She also works as a Swim America Site-Supervisor and Head of Pre-Team Coach. She is a former CSSC swimmer who specialized in sprints and backstroke races. 

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS: 

Former NCAA D1 swimmer at Florida Gulf Coast University. She was selected in 2022 and 2023 as one of the Florida All-Stars Coaches. In 2022, she was a member of the Florida Gold Coast Southern Zone Age Group Championships coaching staff.

 

Cole Narbonne

EDUCATION BACKGROUND: 

Graduated from Coral Glades High School. Currently attending Florida Atlantic University (FAU) as a junior. Pursuing a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Computer Science Engineering. Planning to pursue a Master's degree after obtaining the BS

COACHING BACKGROUND: 

He is a Red Cross certified lifeguard and USA Swimming certified coach.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS: 

He is a former CSSC swimmer who specialized in butterfly and distance events. He swam for Senior 2, Senior 1, and the National Team for a total of 6 years.

 

Jessica Long

EDUCATION BACKGROUND: 

Graduated from Trinity High School and Plymouth State University in New Hampshire with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and Outdoor Recreation.

COACHING BACKGROUND: 

The former collegiate swimmer in the freestyle and breaststroke moved to South Florida in 2005…was certified through the American Red Cross for lifeguard training and swimming instruction.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS: Has 27 years of experience in coaching and teaching at all levels from beginner to competitive…currently is the Head Coach at Mullins Park working with the Red, Green and Gold age groups and has been with the swim club for 13 years.
