Age Group Programs

The CSSC Age Group program does not set out to teach youngsters how to swim. They are expected to swim well enough to be safe in the water before they join CSSC. CSSC coaches teach young swimmers to swim well in an expert, safe, caring and fun manner. If swimming is not fun, it is not anything a child will want to do.

Age Group is divided into "Colors." Placement is determined by the coaches. A child's physical age, emotional age, ability and desire are all taken into account when a child is placed initially and when he or she is moved into the next group.

CSSC coaches don't believe in "social promotion." Kids move up to a more demanding group when their ability and attitude warrant it, not because all their friends have moved on.

It takes special people to keep children happy in this kind of merit based system. Fortunately, CSSC has a group of very special people who happen to be fine coaches.

The Coral Springs Aquatic Complex Program

Older Age Group swimmers join the "big kids" at the City of Coral Springs Aquatic Complex. The Coach puts them through their paces. Practices become more serious and more rigorous while the kids decide where swimming fits into their lives.

White Group

  • Six days per week
  • Monday through Friday: 3:45 pm to 5:15 pm
  • Saturday: 8:00 am - 9:30 am

This group's emphasis is on specific technique training incorporated with interval and endurance training. We swim on between 2,200-3,200 yards a day, increasing or decreasing yardage depending on where we are in the season. Practices are challenging but the group dynamic makes it fun and interesting.

Practices includes 15 minutes of dryland, which includes running and core exercises, as well as stretching. Once a month there is a long timed swim and twice a month is a "fun practice" with relays games and diving. We swim at least one meet a month. Many swimmers are extremely competitive making A-AAAA time standards and also striving to qualify for finals at our Age Group Championships and the Florida Gold Coast All-Star team.
