Michael Tiani Shatters CSSC Record at Sunshine State Showcase

It seems to be a common occurrence at swim meets lately that a current member of Coral Springs Swim Club breaks a club record held by a former swimmer.  This time, it was Michael Tiani, who, at the Sunshine State Showcase meet, broke the club record in the boys 10 & under 500 yard freestyle, touching the wall in a time of 5:47.09. Tiani came in approximately 4 seconds under the previous record which had been set in 2021.  Not only did Michael grab a record, but he also took first place in the event, dominating the race and touching the wall 11 seconds ahead of the second place finisher.

The new format of the Sunshine State Showcase (formerly All-Stars) seems to be working quite well, as this year’s competition was one of the closest in history.  In the final tabulations, the Sharks were victorious, scoring 1,006 points and beating out the Stingrays by a miniscule 4 points. Integral to the success of the Sharks were Michael Tiani, John Albornoz, and Coach Brittany Bellomo, who were all Sharks team members.  In addition to his outstanding 500 yard freestyle swim, Tiani posted top ten results of third in the 200 yard freestyle and fifth in the 100 yard freestyle, both earning new personal best times, to earn 20 points for his Sharks teammates. He also swam the 100 breaststroke, as well as the 50 freestyle and butterfly.

John Albornoz had an outstanding swim meet, earning 30 points for the Sharks, which were the most points scored for the Sharks in the men’s 13-14 age category.  Albornoz took second in the 100 yard breaststroke, and third in both the 200 yard breaststroke and individual medley.  Additionally, John finished fifth in the 100 yard backstroke and ninth in the 200 yard back.  His swims in the 100 yard backstroke and breaststroke represented new personal bests.  Lastly, Albornoz competed on all of the Sharks “A” relay teams, adding to their success.

Paired together on the Gators were Emanuel Quintero and Matias Tiani, who each had very solid swim meets at the Sunshine Showcase.  Tiani’s best result was seventh in the 500 yard freestyle, while also touching eighth in both the 200 yard freestyle and 50 yard backstroke (new personal best time.) Rounding out Matias’ schedule of events were swims in the 100 yard freestyle and individual medley, and the 50 yard backstroke.  Quintero almost turned in best times across the board, improving his personal bests in the 50 and 100 yard breaststroke, 100 yard individual medley, 100 yard backstroke, and 200 yard freestyle.  He also swam the 50 yard backstroke to finish off a recap of his events. Congratulations to all four swimmers and to Coach Brittany Bellomo for qualifying for this meet, and for representing Coral Springs Swim Club and Florida Gold Coast Swimming proudly!
