The Devilfish Swim Team competed at the New Jersey/USA Swimming Junior Olympics held at Rutgers University, March 16-18. There were many outstanding swims and time drops at this very competitive meet. Two swimmers qualified for Y Nationals, Luke McGrory (100 Back) and Brooke Sweeney (200 Back). The Devilfish Silver/Bronze Team competed at the NJ USA Swimming 13&0ver Silver/Bronze Camps held at Rutgers University March 10-11. Twenty-four of our thirty swimmers entered achieved at least one personal best time with many breakout swims. The Devilfish added 4 more athletes to it's National Team this past weekend at NJ States in Lancaster! Congratulations to Audrey Bangs (200 Back), Caroline Basil (100 Back), Aidan Donadio (100 Breast), & Nicandro Donadio (200 Breast). Additional qualifying swims were achieved by Alex Bond (200 Breast), Aram Barmakian (200 Breast), and Caroline Baldwin (200 Back). The team now has 18 National Qualifiers!

The Westfield Area Y Devilfish Swim Team excelled with multiple record breaking swims at the13 and over NJ YMCA State Championships held at Franklin and Marshall College, March 9-11. The 15-18 girls set five Y State Meet records! Caroline Baldwin and Carly Whitmer each set two individual 15-18 records. Baldwin won the 100 Back (56.11) and 50 Free (23.64). Results are in for the SHY 9-12 Invite held March 3 at Somerset Hills YMCA. Sixty-one Devilfish swimmers aged 9-12 competed against four area teams in mixed (all ages/boys&girls) events. Sixty-two percent of swimmers recorded at least one personal best time and several swimmers tried new events to establish a time. Congratulations to Erin McKinney, the winner of the Bear Down for Championships Raffle! Erin and her Group 1 teammates have been working very hard this year.
