Devilfish Caroline Baldwin and Carly Whitmer competed at USA Swimming and Speedo Short Course Junior National Championships held at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, TN Dec 6-8. Baldwin, a junior at Westfield HS qualified to compete in the 50 yd Free, 100 yd Back and 200 yd Back. She qualified for finals in the 100 Back, resetting a WY record she owned (55.45) in prelims. Carly Whitmer has signed a national letter of intent to attend and compete for George Washington University next year. Carly signed her letter in a special ceremony at Mount St. Mary Academy, with Westfield Y head age group coach Jackie Whitty in attendance. The Westfield Area Y Devilfish Swim Team garnered victories, best times and experience in new events at the MCY Harvest Meet hosted by the Greater Morristown YMCA (MCY) on November 24-25. The Devilfish fielded a large team as this invitational required no time standards. This open format allowed younger or less experienced swimmers a chance to try longer, mid-distance events.
