JOB DESCRIPTION:  Lifeguard

Starting Pay Range:    $18.00 per hour

Basic Assignments:

Lifeguards are responsible for monitoring the pool and ensuring a safe environment for Forest Park members and guests. Main responsibilities include enforcing Forest Park rules, providing safety for those in and around the pool area, and effectively rescuing and providing first aid whenever necessary. Lifeguards are also responsible for general maintenance of the pool and deck area, including conducting chemical tests on a regular basis. Maintenance and cleaning of the bathroom and office facilities are also lifeguard duties. Lifeguards are also expected to run and stock the snack shack when not guarding the pool, and to provide excellent customer service to all members and guests.

Qualifications:

Must be a minimum of 15 years of age and possess the following certifications: Red Cross Lifeguard, Adult & Child CPR/AED and First Aid.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:  Swim Instructor

Starting Pay Range:    $19.50 per hour (depending on experience)

Basic Assignments: 

Swim instructors are responsible for providing an atmosphere of safety and discipline while in the pool. Instructors are also expected to provide instruction of high quality for children of all skill levels. Instructors must be comfortable working with children.

Qualifications:

Must be a minimum of 15 years of age with a basic knowledge of swimming and the basic strokes. Must possess Adult & Child CPR/AED and First Aid. WSI (Water Safety Instructor) Certification is a plus.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION: Assistant Swim Coach

Starting Pay Range: $20.00 per hour (depending on experience)

Basic Assignments:

Assistant swim coaches are responsible for providing direct leadership, instruction and motivation for swim team participants and is expected to attend all swim meets and team functions as scheduled. They will assist the head coach in creating thorough, age-appropriate workouts focusing on technique, endurance, stroke development, drills, etc. They will lead structured practices on weekday evenings in the spring and in the mornings in the summer. They are also responsible for creating and maintaining a clean and safe environment for the swim team participants.

Qualifications:

Must be a minimum of 16 years of age with a basic knowledge of swimming and ability to demonstrate proficiency of swim skills and have a strong foundation in stroke mechanics. 2+ years experience as a competitive swimmer and 2+ years swim coaching experience preferred; Enthusiastic with good communication skills; Must possess Adult & Child CPR/AED and First Aid. USA Swimming Coach or ASCA Level 1 certification preferred but not required.
