Lesson Levels:
Level 1: Turtles
This level is for beginner swimmers; no prior swim experience is required to enroll. The student will learn how to kick with a barbell, blow bubbles, and do wall bobs. The goal for this level is to get swimmers used to the water, their instructor, and learn safety skills.
Level 2: Guppies
Students at this level will build on their safety skills, learn how to have proper body position and do pop-up breathing while kicking. We will emphasize strengthening their kick. They will learn how to kick on their stomach and back, both assisted with a barbell and on their own to 5yds.
Level 3: Otters
Students at this level will be mainly focusing on floating, both on their stomach and back, as well as transitioning between floats. They will be introduced to freestyle, including side breathing. Students will also be introduced to backstroke. They must be able to swim barbell freestyle and backstroke with proper body position to halfway across the pool.
Level 4: Penguins
Students at this level will work push-offs and arm strokes in order to swim freestyle and backstroke without the barbell. There is an emphasis on side breathing for freestyle. They will also be tested on diving for rings on their own.
Level 5: Seahorses
Students at this level will focus on freestyle and backstroke endurance and swimming to halfway across the pool. They will also be introduced to breaststroke, both kicking and pulling.
Level 6: Octopuses
Students at this level will focus on improving freestyle and backstroke, as well as putting breaststroke together. They should be able to swim freestyle and backstroke for 25 yds, and breaststroke to at least halfway across the pool. They will be introduced to butterfly.
