Lesson Levels:

Level  1: Turtles   (Ages 3 and up)

This level is for beginning swimmers; no prior swim experience is required to enroll. The student will learn how to kick, float, and put their face in the water. They must be able to kick with their face in the water with proper body position for five yards, and float on their back to move to the next level. 

 

Level 2: Guppies   (Ages 3 and up)

Students in this level will learn how to have proper body position and breath control in the water (fins will be used to assist with pop-ups for breathing if needed). We will emphasize strengthening their kick. They will learn how to kick on their stomach and back. The student must be able to kick with their face in the water with proper body position for five yards, then pop up for a breath and return to proper body position for a total of fifteen yards to move to the next level. The student must also be able to float and kick on their back for fifteen yards to move to the next level.


Prerequisites: Students must have passed the Turtles level and/or be comfortable in the water without a parent. They must also be able to kick with their face in the water with proper body position for five yards and float on their back.

 

Level 3: Stingrays   (Ages 4 and up)

Students in this level will be introduced to freestyle, including side breathing. Students will also be introduced to backstroke. They must be able to swim fifteen yards of freestyle and backstroke with proper body position to move to the next level.  These swimmers are then qualified to join our swim team.

Prerequisites: Students must have passed the Guppies level or must be able to kick with their face in the water with proper body position for five yards, then pop up for a breath and return to proper body position, for a total of fifteen yards. Students must be able to float and kick on their back for fifteen yards.

 

Level 4: Swordfish   (Ages 5 and up)

Students in this level will work on fine-tuning their freestyle and backstroke using proper techniques. They will also be introduced to breaststroke. They must be able to swim fifteen yards of freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke with proper body position to move to the next level. 


Prerequisites: Students must have passed the Stingrays level or be able to swim fifteen yards of freestyle and backstroke with proper body position.

 

Level 5: Marlins   (Ages 5 and up)

Students in this level will focus on fine-tuning freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke. They will also be introduced to butterfly, turns, and diving.


Prerequisites: Students must have passed the Swordfish level or be able to swim fifteen yards of freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke with proper body position.
