Welcome to Tsunami Swimming 2024

Visit the Swim Team Registration page for registration procedures.

The objective of the Forest Park Cabana Club (FPCC) Tsunami Swim Team is to provide an opportunity for swimmers ages 5 through 18 to develop their swimming skills, sportsmanship, and fellowship while engaging in low-key competition in a positive and supportive team environment.

Eligibility:

To join the swim team your child must be at least 5 years old, completely water-safe, and be able to swim the length of the pool using flutter kick, overarm motion, and rhythmic breathing. SAFETY COMES FIRST! We will adhere strictly to these requirements.

Parent Involvement/Family Commitment:

We strive to foster a positive, social, and supportive team environment, and we ask everyone to:

  • respect coaches, adult volunteers and each other
  • have swimmers leave electronic devices at home when participating in swim meets
  • volunteer for a swim meet job and a swim team event job*

* In order to ensure a successful swim season and make each swim meet and event run smoothly, each family is responsible for working a meet job and swim event jobs. In order for your swimmer(s) to participate in the meet, a parent/relative must work a job shift. Training for most of these positions will be done at the Red vs. Blue Meet. A job shift will last about half of the meet. This is a great opportunity to meet other swim team parents! In case of a situation where a parent cannot volunteer for a shift during a meet, there is a $75 buy out option per shift.  We couldn’t do this without YOU!!

Swim Meet & Volunteer Sign-ups:

  • All families MUST volunteer at ALL swim meets that their child attends and at one or more swim team events throughout the season.
  • Swim Meet & Swim Meet Volunteer sign-ups will be posted on TeamUnify in May, see the Events section for the Swim Meet Events posted.

Swim Gear:

  • Swimsuits. In order to learn and execute proper stroke technique, it is required that all swimmers wear competition-style swimsuits to practice (jammers or briefs for boys, one-piece competition suits for girls).   Inexpensive practice swimsuits can be found at Costco, Amazon (girls) Amazon (boys), local sports or swim shops, or swimoutlet.com.
  • Tsunami Team Swimsuits are manufactured by Agonswim and may be ordered online through our website. We will have fittings at practice during April and provide more information about the suits at the MANDATORY parent meeting.
  • Goggles are highly recommended for all swimmers. Have an extra pair in case they are lost or damaged - you don’t want to show up to a swim meet or practice without goggles to protect your child’s eyes from the chlorine. Examples from Amazon.
  • Swim Caps are required for ALL swimmers during swim meets. While any caps can be worn at practice, please purchase and wear the Tsunami Team Swim Cap during our meets! Those with long hair MUST wear a swim cap during practice and meets.  Swimmers may not wear caps or suits from other swim teams at swim meets.   Emamples from Amazon.
