President: Mariah Weber
Our family has been part of the Brookings Swim Club since 2021. My husband, Gavin, and I have three children, Jensen (11), Emerson (8) & Sutton (4). Jensen and Emerson both swim for BSC. Jensen swims with the junior group and Emerson with silver. I am originally from Bettendorf, Iowa and I grew up swimming competitively for 15 years. I moved to Brookings to attend school at SDSU and swim for the Jacks. I am currently the Director of Recreation & Fitness at the SDSU Miller Wellness Center. In my free time I love to cook, read, teach indoor cycling classes, and cheer on the Jacks! I am thrilled my children decided to swim as it’s fun to be on the spectator side of the sport cheering them on!

role summary: The President of BSC shall give the general supervision and direction of the affairs and management of BSC and shall preside at all meetings of the membership and Board of Directors.

Our Family has been part of the Brookings Swim Club since 2023. My wife Ellen and I have three children, Hailey (8) Valerie (5) & Brooke (2). Hailey is our only swimmer in BSC, currently in the silver group. Val participates in Swim America Swim lessons. I am originally from Scandia, Minnesota. I swam competitively for 10 years through high school and college. In 2007 moved to Brookings to attend SDSU as an Ag Education Major and swim for the Jackrabbits. I am currently the Director of Development for the College of Ag Food and Environmental Sciences at the SDSU Foundation. In my free time I enjoy weekends at the lake and being outside. I am excited our children have taken an interest in the sport I love.

role summary: The Vice President, in absence of the president of BSC shall exercise all of the powers and perform all of the duties of the president.

role summary: The Secretary shall prepare such reports as are requested by the Board of Directors, shall keep a record of the proceedings of all meetings of the membership and the Board of Directors, and shall carry out other such secretarial duties as may be directed by the Board of Directors.

Treasurer: Kelli Jorgensen
Our daughter Avery has been swimming with the Brookings Swim Club since 2021. Her current favorites are backstroke, relay starts and hopes the gold level group gets enough points to push Coach Allison in the pool at the end of the season! We made Brookings our home 9 years ago. I work from home as an Accounting Manager for Prairie AquaTech/Houdek here in Brookings and Brent works at Daktronics in the Transportation Factory. When we are not cheering on BSC, we love to spend time outdoors fishing and tubing, visiting family and playing with our dog Scout.

Role: Treasurer
role summary: The Treasurer shall have custody of the funds of BSC, shall receive all monies for dues and deposit them in a depository selected by the Board of Directors in such accounts as may be deemed necessary by the Board of Directors, and shall carry out other duties as defined in the job description and found in the Brookings Swim Club Parent and Swimmer Handbook.
Financial obligations by BSC will be approved by the Board of Directors and paid by the treasurer.

I am originally from Brookings and have been involved with the Brookings Swim Club for 5 years. I work at SDSU as a Professor in Education, Counseling and Human Development. Outside of work, I enjoy walking, biking, baking, organizing, and shopping.

Board Member at Large: Erin Schwab
John and I have been with the Brookings Swim Club since 2013. We have four children Alexis, Skylar, (who swam with BSC for two seasons), Andrew, and McKinley. She is in the senior group and has been swimming since 2018. I am originally from DeSmet. We have lived in Brookings since 2008. I have been an in-home daycare provider for over 13 years. In my free time, I enjoy watching my children’s sporting events. I love coaching/play softball and volleyball. I’m a Starter/Stroke and Turn official for USA swimming.
