BSC Fundraising
The BSC is a self-supporting, parent run, non-profit organization. Membership dues cover approximately 40% of the Club’s operating expenses. The balance (60%) must come from other means (fundraising, grants, meets, donations, etc.).
It is essential that all families understand BSC fundraising expectations and complete requirements. The goal of BSC fundraising is to provide a high quality experience while keeping costs low so swimming is accessible for families.
In addition, our swim meets run smoothly when all families participate and volunteer for meet shifts. All families must help with home swim meets. We understand that there are circumstances that may prevent a family from volunteering. Fees are charged when families cannot fulfill swim meet volunteer shift requirements.
Fundraising Requirements
Each family is required to help with fundraising. BSC is offering 3 options for your family to meet this requirement. Returning families and new families are required to choose ONE of the following to satisfy your fundraising requirement.
Option 1: Collect $500 in sponsorships for the team. Complete the sponsorship form.
Option 2: Complete the “Color My Uniform” fundraiser card.
- Families will be tasked with collecting $500 in donations from friends, family members, and coworkers.
- Donations will be applied to the card in increments of $5, $10, $15, $20 and $25.
- When you have colored all sections of your uniform your swimmer will be eligible for prizes.
- Swimmers who collect more than $500 in donations are eligible for additional prizes. Fundraiser cards and instructions will be issued to your swimmer at the first practice in June.
3) One-time Fee - Families may choose to opt out of fundraising by paying at $350 fee. For those families opting out of fundraising, their family account will be billed at the end of August.
**If your swimmer joins at any point in the season, you have 120 days to complete "Color my Uniform" or choose either option 1 (Sponsorship) or Option 3 (One-time fee)**
Home swim meets fundraising
BSC typically hosts 2-3 swim meets per year. These swim meets provide an excellent opportunity for BSC to host high quality swim meets and to generate revenue (through concessions, swim meet fees, and fundraising) for the team.
A successful swim meet requires the efforts of all families.
*In addition to fundraising, families are expected to volunteer for meet shifts. Additional information and volunteer requirements, see the Home Swim meet section.
There are a number of home swim meet fundraising opportunities:
1) Silent Auction - Silent Auction items and baskets will be organized for BSC home meets. Families are asked to contribute a basket and/or donations can be collected from the community.
2) Home Meet Concessions – The Club runs a concession stand that serves sandwiches, snacks, pastries
and beverages during each home meet.
3) Chuck-a-Duck (summer meet) - Swimmers, families, and friends can purchase rubber ducks. At a scheduled time during the swim meet, a floating target will be set up in the pool and ducks are thrown at the target. The duck that hits the target wins.
4) 50/50 raffle
Other Fundraising Opportunities: Throughout the short course and long course seasons, there are additional fundraising opportunities. All families are asked to assist and participate as they are able.
1) Bingo Night: Games/prizes. Open to the community
2) Lapapalooza - Swimmers earn money for the team by swimming lengths of the swimming pool. Swimmers have a one-hour period in which to swim a maximum of 200 lengths. Swimmers get pledges from family, friends, local businesses, and neighbors to support their efforts. Donors can either pledge a certain amount of money per length or make a flat donation in support of their swimmer and the team.
3) Superbowl Squares: Super Bowl squares are played on a 10 by 10 grid that has a similar look to it as a bingo card. Each team is assigned to an axis, and each column and row is assigned a number from 0 to 9. Participating in the game itself is as simple as purchasing one of those 100 squares.
4) Family Swim Relay/Giving Tuesday
5) Swimmer shout out: Post a shout-out to your favorite swimmers on a digital score board.
6) Restaurant Fundraiser: participate in local restaurant fundraiser with a portion of the proceeds going to BSC
Sponsorship
BSC relies on generous financial contributions from local businesses. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit, parent run organization dedicated to providing competitive swimming opportunities for youth in the area, and we depend on fees, fundraising, and donations, to help maintain our swimming program and provide scholarships to those in need.
