Fundraising

The BSC is a self-supporting, parent run, non-profit organization. Membership dues cover approximately 40% of the Club’s operating expenses. The balance (60%) must come from other means (fundraising, grants, meets, donations, etc.)

Home swim meets – As mentioned above, the BSC typically holds 3 swim meets per year. These swim meets are both fundraisers for the team and an opportunity for our swimmers to compete against other swimmers from the region without having to travel.

Home Meet Concessions – The Club runs a concession stand that serves sandwiches, snacks, pastries and beverages during each home meet.

SDSU Concession StandEach family will be required to work at least three shifts of these events for the year or pay a $200 fee. These volunteer hours help offset the income loss. Any unworked shifts will be prorated.

A family may have 3 people work 1 event, this would count for all of the required shifts, no fee will be charged to the families account.

A family may have 1 person work 3 different shifts/events, this would meet the families required shifts. No fee will be charged to the family's account.

If a family is only able to work 2 of the 3 required shifts, their family account will be billed on the last day of BSC fiscal year.

If BSC is unable to schedule/secure SDSU concession stand events, they will try to find other opportunities to substitute for the SDSU Concessions.IF no events are lined up by the board/fundraising committee no fees will be charged to member accounts.

Lapapalooza - Swimmers earn money for the team by swimming lengths of the swimming pool. Swimmers have a one-hour period in which to swim a maximum of 200 lengths. Swimmers get pledges from family, friends, local businesses, and neighbors to support their efforts. Donors can either pledge a certain amount of money per length or make a flat donation in support of their swimmer and the team.

Amazon Smile   - BSC is now registered as an Amazon Smile eligible non-profit. Anything you can purchase on Amazon is also available on the Amazon Smile website at the same price, but BSC will receive 0.5% of what you spend back from Amazon as a donation. If you use this link http://www.Smile.amazon.com, you can shop and select Brookings Swim Club Inc. and become a BSC supporter. If you shop with Amazon there is no additional cost to you but it is another way BSC can raise money to help keep swim dues down. Remember to tell your friends and family.
