NAC Swimmer Maclin Davis, fresh off his triple gold medal performance at the FINA World Junior Championships in Lima, Peru, was recently chosen by USA Swimming as a member of the 2011-2012 National Junior Team. Maclin was the 18 and Under National Champion at this past summer's 2011 USA Swimming ConocoPhillips National Championships. This will be Maclin's second year as member of the National Junior Team. NAC Head Coach John Morse was chosen by USA Swimming as a member of the 2011 Pan American Games coaching staff. The Games, which will take place in Guadalajara, Mexico, will run from October 15th through October 22nd. The Pan American Games are a major event in the Americas featuring summer and formerly winter sports, in which thousands of athletes participate in a variety of competitions. In the month of August, Nashville Aquatic Club athletes traveled to several locations to compete at the National and International Level. Maclin Davis qualified for, and competed in, the FINA World Junior Swimming Championships in Lima, Peru. As a member of the USA-Swimming National Youth Team, this was Maclin's first experience representing the United States. The first three days at USA Swimming Nationals in Palo Alto, CA have been exciting for NAC athletes! On Thursday evening, Maclin Davis finished in 11th place in the men's 100m butterfly and was the fastest 18 and under athlete in the country - touching the wall in 53.23. Elena Escalas tackled international competition during a recent trip to Spain to compete in the Spanish Junior National Championships. Elena, whose father is from Spain and was a two-time NCAA champion in the mile while swimming at UCLA, continued her father's tradition and made a splash on the Spanish Junior scene. Nashville Aquatic Club athletes had a dominating performance over the weekend at the 2011 Southeastern Swimming Long Course Championship in Knoxville, TN. Nashville Aquatic Club took home the overall team title, finishing in first place by an astonishing margin of 1,125.5 points.
