This Week's Schedule and Notes

STEEL CITY AQUATICS FAMILY:

We hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. This week we return to a somewhat normal schedule. Please pay attention to your site schedules as we start high school meets and home basketball games so schedules may be adjusted.

BPR CHRISTMAS QUALIFIER UPDATE: Currently the pool is down at Bethel Park. They are looking for somewhere else to run the meet. As soon as we know details, we will let you know.

LOTTERY TICKETS: All sites still have tickets to pass out so if your swimmer has not brought yours home yet, please have them reach out to their group or site coach. These need to be returned by November 28 to be eligible for the drawings. See your emails from Allison for more details.

WEATHER: It is almost December and as you know living in Pittsburgh it is entirely possible to have four seasons in one day. Please make sure your athletes are prepared and do not leave the pool deck to go outside in just a wet suit and a towel.

Moon Site:

  • Holiday schedule on Monday AND first high school home meet
  • Lost and found is full and will be donated to Goodwill soon so if you are missing anything please be sure to check the bin near the office
  • Equipment bags are only to be left if you are in Junior group or above – if you leave your bag make sure it’s hung up before you leave

SF Site:

  • MON - No School, Holiday Schedule
  • Please make sure your swimmer is bringing their equipment (this includes their own goggles), water for hydration, and tennis shoes on dryland days.

Montour Site:

  • Copper moved to Wednesday due to Montour home varsity meet
  • Home basketball games WILL affect our practice schedule and groups will be adjusted accordingly

LESSONS/LIFEGUARDING: We are STILL looking for more instructors and guards at the Moon and SF sites for winter lessons. If you have lifeguarding or are interested in helping out with lessons, please contact [email protected], [email protected], or [email protected].

UPCOMING MEETS:

  • BPR Christmas Qualifier – December 1-3 at Bethel Park High School – MAY BE FACILITY CHANGE, KEEP ETE ON YOUR EMAILS
  • WVU Speedo Meet – December 7-10 at WVU – qualifiers only, at WVU – NO MORE ADJUSTMENTS MAY BE MADE
  • Pitt/PEAQ at Pitt Christmas Meet – December 14-17 – qualifiers only at the University of Pittsburgh
  • Steel City IMX – January 6-7, 2024
  • AMS Silver Champs hosted by Steel City Aquatics – February 23-25, 2024

STEEL CITY IMX/IMR MEET: We have sent out info regarding this meet in your emails. This is a USA Swimming format of a meet that we used to run in our area for many years. We are excited to bring it back. You must register and compete in all events in your track. 9-10s are the only ones that have two options. You may choose EITHER to do all the IMR (IM Ready events) or the IMX (IM Extreme events).

  • 10-under IMR: 100 IM, 50 fly, 50 back, 50 breast, 100 free
  • 9-10 IMX: 200 IM, 100 fly, 100 back, 100 breast, 200 free

VOLUNTEERING:

  • We have had several new members join the board from all three sites and we are always looking for more – come join the FUN.
  • We are still looking for parents interested in learning to be officials – officials are invaluable to our success and quite frankly give you a much better and more comfortable view then the stands 😊
  • OUR NEXT HOSTED MEET IS 1/6-7/2024 – don’t forget to sign up and help and get your sweet, neon yellow shirt if you haven’t already
