Lessons Registration

 

CGBD Dolphin Swims uses the SwimAmerica program; a program built with advanced swimming techniques–invented by the world’s best swimming instructors—to teach your child essential water safety skills. Our proven skill progression and award system helps motivate our swimmers to learn and grow in a safe and comfortable environment! Our environment is safe and comfortable. Our American Swim Coaches Association (ASCA)-certified coaches participate in monthly trainings and education opportunities. Our site supervisors are also trained in SwimAngelfish, the global leader for adaptive swim programs.

 

Families are able to enjoy a year-round lessons program which makes drowning prevention a key priority. We are proud to play a role in helping make this region one of the best places for families to raise safe and healthy children. We are proud to offer programs from 6 months to adult.

 

SwimAmerica Curriculum

 

Station 1: 

This station is for beginner students. We include introduction to the basic skills necessary for swimming. Students work on gradual water adaptation, movement in the water, breath holding and release, submersions of the face, opening eyes underwater, blowing bubbles, bobbing with bubbles, and air exchange. Swimmers will gain confidence and master submerging their face in the water. Swimmer advances when they can do 10 relaxed bobs with air exchange. 

 

Station 2: 

This station is for swimmers that are comfortable holding their breath under the water and doing 10 relaxed bobs with air exchange. Swimmers will be taught to front float and recover, front glide and recover, back float and recover, back glide and recover and back to front roll overs. Additional swimmers will learn how to safely enter the water. Swimmers advance when they can front and back glide for 5 seconds and recover. 

 

Station 3:  

This station is for swimmers that know how to comfortably hold their breath and float on their stomach and back independently. Swimmers will be taught kicking skills with front and back glides. Swimmers advance when they can kick 15 feet on their front and 15 feet on their back in streamline position.  

 

Station 4:  

This station is for swimmers that have mastered breath control, body position and kicking on their front and back on top of the water. Swimmers will be taught breathing position for freestyle (side-glide), and the crawl arm stroke with catch up. Swimmers will master short front crawl swim and advance by performing side-glide kick for 20 free and crawl stroke for 20 feet. 

 

Station 5:  

This station is for swimmers that can swim on top of the water. Swimmers will be taught back crawl stroke and will master front crawl stroke with bilateral side breathing. Swimmers will advance by swimming crawl stroke with a minimum of four side breaths. 

 

Station 6:  

This station is for swimmers that have mastered freestyle swimming with continuous side breathing for a short distance and can swim on their backs. Swimmers will learn how to tread water, dive from the sitting, kneeling, and standing positions, and work on their endurance in freestyle. Swimmers will advance when they swim backstroke with correct body position, strong kicks, and quick arm rotation.  

 

Station 7:  

This station is for swimmers that have successfully mastered freestyle and backstroke. Swimmers will learn how to dolphin kick and the timing of the butterfly stroke. The butterfly stroke should have two visible kicks with one arm pull. Breathing should occur every other stroke. Swimmers will learn the breaststroke kick and correct timing (pull-breath-kick-glide) for breaststroke. Swimmers will advance when they swim butterfly with correct body position, pulling and kicking motions, and breath timing for 20 feet. 

 

Station 8:  

This station is for swimmers who have mastered freestyle, backstroke and butterfly. This station is for swimmers who have mastered all for strokes. Swimmers will learn how to perform a flip turn in the water, an open turn for breaststroke and butterfly, a backstroke flip turn. Swimmers will advance when swim breaststroke with correct kick, pull, breath timing and glide for 20 feet.  

 

Station 9:  

These swimmers are proficient in all four strokes and are working to build endurance. survival strokes of Elementary Backstroke and Sidestroke will be introduced.  Swimmers will advance when they can demonstrate proper turns for all four strokes and 50 yards of Elementary Backstroke and 50 Yards of Sidestroke. 

 

Station 10:  

This station is for swimmers who have mastered all four strokes and proper turns for each stroke. Swimmers will fine tune their strokes, work on endurance, and learn turns for Individual Medley swimming. Swimmers will graduate from the program when they can demonstrate a 300 Freestyle, 100 Backstroke and 100 IM.
