The 18&Under Spring Cup is a new meet created by USA Swimming this year to offer swimmers one more opportunity to swim a prelims/finals LCM meet in a very competitive Olympic year. This meet was hosted in three different sites and our team went to Mesa, Arizona. Wave had five swimmers qualified for the Spring Cup and was represented by three of them last weekend. Wave 11&O Short Course Finale Meet Recap Last weekend, we finished off the 2023-24 Short Course Season with fabulous performances from nearly every group as our older swimmers dominated the meet, with many of them coming back for Finals on Saturday and Sunday, and many swimmers trying longer races for the first time. Northwest Age Group Regional Championships Meet Recap Two weekends ago, Wave sent 74 athletes from nearly every workout group to the King County Aquatic Center for the biggest Age Group meet of the year. It was the first time since 2019 that the meet was held with full participation from our entire region, which includes seven states (Washington, Oregon, Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming). Wave 10&U Championship Meet Recap Two weekends ago, Wave hosted its first-ever championship meet for 10&Unders. The meet (along with the 11&O meet this coming weekend) replaced the Spring Showdown meet that was dropped from the PNS schedule. The 8&U got the chance to race a pentathlon (all four strokes + a 100 IM) while the 9-10 year olds got to swim in a true Prelim/Finals meet with A, B, and C heats in the evening session. NW Speedo Senior Sectionals Meet Recap Wave was represented by 20 athletes at the Northwest Speedo Spring Sectionals at Federal Way last week. We had 16 swimmers participating in individual events and another four swimmers joining the team for relays. This year—due to the Olympic Trials—the meet was held in long course meters, which we hadn’t swum since last summer. BBST Seize the Day Invitational Meet Recap Nearly all of Wave trekked up to Snohomish Aquatic Center for the last meet of the Short Course season before championships begin. February Age Group Invitational Meet Recap Wave sent a large contingent down to Federal Way for the first-ever combined Age Group Invitational meet at the King County Aquatic Center in the last weekend of February. Boys High School Championships Recap Wave had 32 boys representing their High School teams in the three postseason meets: KingCo, Districts, and State.
