Six Marlins were overall Sextathlon winners at our beloved Painterman Invite! Leah Taylor, Bindi Pedersen, Abby Magee, Christina Domanowski, Jeffrey Lozensky, and Hannah Taylor all took top honors. A host of Marlins won medals for 2nd through 6th place overall including: Toria Benson, Madelynn Butler, Maggie Delaney, Kevin English, Morgan Ginnis, Spencer Girard, Lyric Ingram, Elle Lee, Nathaniel Ludwig, John Snider, Alisa Stang, Lindsay Vanderhoff, Kara Libra, Rebekah Pusateri, and Colin Willis Great job running the meet crew!!
The dessert auction stole the show at the Marlins Short Course Season Banquet! The fabulous desserts helped raise over $300 for the Marlins. Award winners for Most Outstanding included: Bindi Pedersenm Christina Domanowski, Jeffrey Lozensky, Melody Coleman, Sarp Orgul, Jennifer Domanowski, and Andrew Winquist. Award winners for Most Improved included: Maggie Delaney, Mel Lofton, Hannah Davis, Abby Magee, Jon Thill, Kara Libra, Luke Lobaugh, Alisa Stang, and Cameron Chaplik.
Hannah Taylor swam a very fast 5:01 in the 400 IM at the Michigan Grand Prix on the campus of the University of Michigan. It was good enough for her to make top 16 in a field that included many Olympians and world record holders. She also just missed finals in the 100 breaststroke. Abby Magee had 5 best times in the Pentathlon part of Divisional Champs to earn the 11 year old overall title beating 145 other girls. Bindi Pedersen dominated the 10 year old age group for the title as well. Other Pentathlon Swimmers with best times included: Kevin English had 4, Emma Savidge and Lyric Ingram with 3, Skyler Walker and Luke Pusateri with 2, and Maggie Delaney with 1. The Mighty Marlins were 13th in a 140 team field but that barely tells the story of this meet. Bindi Pedersen and Christina Domanowski dominated their age divisions. Bindi won 5 events and took 2nd in 1 event. All swims were new Mighty Marlin team records and the 100 Breaststroke, in an amazing clocking of 1:14.63, was an Age Group Sectional Meet Record. Cameron Chaplik had great swims against great competition at Senior Sectionals in Federal Way! His record came in the 200 breaststroke with a very fast 2:16.31 clocking! The 800 Free Relay of Jennifer Domanowski, Hannah Peseau, Morgan Ginnis, and Hannah Taylor also broke a team record and place 10th at this meet which is the championship of a 9 state area! Jennifer also took 11th in the 200Fly. Hannah was 12th in the 400 IM, and Morgan was 13th in the 50 Free!
Kara Libra achieved an amazing 9 best times at the AG invite at Kamiak. Jeffrey Lozensky totaled 8, Bindi Pedersen 6, Christina Domanowski 5, Mel Lofton and Abby Magee 4, Melody Coleman, Spencer Girard and Karoline Schaufler 3, Morgan Ginnis, Rachel Hartmeyer, Erin Delaney, Maggie Delaney, and Leah Taylor 2, and Hannah Davis and Jennifer Domanowski 1 each!
