Splash Magazine publishes a top 10 in the country list of times each year. The list for 2009 included times for the 11 year old girls 1650. Christina's swim at the Feb. 21 distance meet would have made 7th on the list. Her 18:47.37 is truly an exceptional time! Way to go Christina!
This weekend exemplified how far reaching the Mighty Marlins are in the world of swimming. Oliver Durand swimming for the MP High School Team won a district title in the 200 free and looks to win one at state next weekend. Marlin Swimmers hit many best times at the February Challenge in Bellingham. Kara Libra led the way with 7 best times. Jonathan, Rebekah, and Shelby all had best times in all 4 races they swam. Other Mighty Marlins with best times included: Toria-1, Melody-3, Erin-2, Maggie-3, Christina-2, Rachel-2, Emerson-1, Mel-6, Jeffrey-4, Abby-1, Madi-1, Bethany-2, Anja-4, Keiran-1, Kaili-1, Leah-3, Raymon-1, Burch-1. Jennifer Domanowski took 2nd place in her best event, the 200 fly, to lead the Mighty Marlins to a 7th place finish at this prestigious meet. KING was the only team from the PNS that finished in a higher place than the Marlins. The other teams besting the Marlins were large teams from Oregon, Idaho, and California. The Girls Relays led the way, scoring a third in the 800 free relay and placing very high in the 4 other relays as well. Hannah Taylor and Morgan Ginnis Dominated the girls 13-14 age group at Age Group PNS Champs in Federal Way! Hannah won the high point award by winning the 200 IM, 400 IM, and 200 free, and taking 2nd in the 100 and 200 breast, and 100 free. Amongst the huge and often intimidating college swimmers our young Mighty Marlins held their own at the National Meet at Federal Way! Jennifer Domanowski had the highest individual place taking 35th in the United States in the 200 butterfly. Morgan Ginnis, one of only two 13 year olds at the meet swam a 24.00 50 yard freestyle and missed finals by 6 tenths of a second.
