Belleville – The Belleville Youth Swim Team hosted their first of four meets this season and nearly 400 athletes attended. The BYST posted a remarkable 90 percent personal best times and earned 108 medals; 48 gold, 35 silver and 25 bronze. Amherstview – The Belleville Youth Swim Team brought 50 athletes to the Ernestown Barracudas Invitational Swim Meet last weekend. The team placed third overall behind the host club and the Kingston Blue Marlins, but managed to fight off other teams from Ottawa, Kingston, Brockville and Perth. It is an honour to have a hero amongst us. We are so proud of your Kristianna! Belleville has paid tribute to a young naval cadet who rescued a man from drowning earlier this fall. 14-year old Master Seaman Kristianna Barton jumped into the waters of Gull Lake on the last Sunday in September to save 85 year old Doug Cooke. Kristianna, a Nicholson Catholic College student, says Cooke was working on the dock when he stumbled and fell into the water. She jumped, fully clothed, into the water...
