Filing a complaint

Swim Ontario’s Complaints and Discipline Procedure is administered separately and independently from the organization’s daily operations. Complaints are managed by the Dispute Resolution Officer (DRO). Swim Ontario can only act, investigate, or begin its process when a formal complaint is made.

To be considered, any complaint must include specific information, often summarized by the “4 W’s”:

  • Who – The person or organization alleged to have committed the breach

  • What – A description of what happened (include, if possible, the section of the Code breached)

  • When – The date and time (or approximate date and time) of the incident

  • Where – The location where the incident took place (e.g., pool, on deck, gym, swim meet, online, etc.)
