We’ve created several Quick Reference Guides to support you on deck. These are contain information specific to how we do things on the Pickering pool deck. Safety Marshal & Marshal Resources

The Safety Marshal oversees a safe warm-up environment for swimmers. At the Pickering Swim Club, Safety Marshals also manage swimmer marshaling after the warm-up, verifying swimmer names and lane assignments. They ensure the smooth and organized flow of swimmers to the blocks during each session.

Administrative Desk Resources

The Admin Desk supports the Meet Manager with day-of meet operations. This role ensures that swimmer scratches, deck entries, relay adjustments, and other changes are handled in alignment with the Meet Package, helping maintain the meet's organization and accuracy.

Timekeeper Resources

Timekeepers are responsible for verifying swimmers and taking times using a watch and a plunger.

Judge of Stroke Resources

 The Judge of Stroke walks the length of the pool, observing swimmers to ensure they follow correct stroke techniques. They monitor the pool deck for infractions and communicate any violations to the Referee for potential disqualifications.

Inspector of Turns Resources

The Inspector of Turns monitors swimmers after the start, during turns, and at the finish. They ensure proper techniques are followed and note any infractions for potential disqualifications.

Chief Timer Resources

The Chief Timer assists start line officials and serves as a direct link between them, the Referee, and other senior officials. They facilitate smooth communication, relay instructions promptly, and address any concerns or issues that arise for timekeepers and start-end Inspectors of Turns.

Starter Resources

The Starter is responsible for initiating the race once it has been handed over by the Referee. They ensure a fair start for all swimmers, observing any infractions that may occur during the starting sequence.

Chief Recorder Resources

The Chief Recorder is responsible for determining the official time for each swim and processing results. They may oversee both a Recorder, who operates the Hy-Tek software, and an Electronics Operator, who assists with the Quantum software.

Recorder Resources

The Recorder uses Hy-Tek software to process swimmer entries and results. They are overseen by the Chief Recorder and support the Admin Desk to ensure accurate recording of swimmer data and efficient processing of results.
