Strathmore Silver Sharks Swim Club is a small competitive club 25 min east of Calgary, Alberta. The club has a strong membership base from Strathmore, Langdon, Chestermere, and surrounding communities. Our mission is to promote the sport of competitive and developmental swimming in our communities and deliver quality, inclusive swim programming to all our members.
Job Description
We are seeking a coach who wants to bring our junior swimmers to the next level through 2023-2024 and beyond. The Coach position is currently part-time and ranges from 5-10 hours/week. The Coach position is appointed by the Board of Directors and reports to the head coach(es). The Coach will be responsible for fulfilling training programs, as well as managing swimmer goals. The successful candidate will promote and maintain healthy and positive relationships with all members of the club, have exceptional organizational and communication skills, and have an ability to foster a positive team atmosphere. We are willing to help develop the skills for the right candidate through additional training. Primary Duties:
● Develop novice competitive swimmers with a focus on building technique based on club structured swimmer development plan
● Ability to build on individual swimmers’ strengths while recognizing areas of development in order to create long-term success and development through a balanced approach to swimming
● Self-development undertaken to advance coaching knowledge
● Maintain professional, effective, and timely communication with swimmers and parents
● Select swim meet entries and attend junior circuit meets once a month and if needed attend senior meets
● Ability to model, demonstrate and foster enthusiasm and integrity for teamwork and a positive team atmosphere
Qualifications:
● Current NCCP 101 certified or willing to be certified
● Knowledge of and commitment to the Alberta Safe Sport Initiative
● Excellent verbal and written communication and organization skills
● Courses and knowledge on building the capacity of physical and/or dryland fitness, as well as
mental training would be an asset
● A valid Canadian driver's license
● Mandatory negative Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check
Salary and Start Date:
● Salary will be commensurate with experience
● Start date is approximately Oct 2nd.
