REQUIRED SWIM GEAR
Each group has its own requirements for equipment. Please review the information under the lane your child has been assigned to in determining the equipment your swimmer requires.
ALL LANES REQUIRE:
Swim Goggles - to provide a protective physical barrier to keep water from getting into swimmer's eyes.
- When determining a good fit for goggles, try the goggles on without the strap to see if they suction well around the eyes. There are a variety of different brands of swim goggles and each may have a different goggle shape to fit the eyes.
- Please do not purchase goggles with a covered nose, such as scuba or snorkelling goggles. Swimmers need to learn how to use their nose in the water to support proper breathing.
Swim Cap - a team cap will be provided each year. Swimmers are recommended to wear swim caps during training to keep hair out of their face, protect hair from chlorine, help keep water out of the ears, and reduce drag.
Swim suits
- Females are required to wear a 1-piece training suit.
- Two-piece suits are not worn in competitive swimming due to the risk of the suit components coming apart or shifting during motion.
- Males are required to wear Jammers or Briefs.
- Loose or baggy suits catch more water, increasing drag and making it harder for a swimmer to be streamlined.
Water bottle - for hydration during practice
Team t-shirt to wear at swim meets (provided)
SILVER, BRONZE, MINNOWS, AND SPORT FOR LIFE
Do not require any additional equipment from what is listed above.
STERLING SILVER
Fins
The fin style below is highly recommended as they do not compress the foot and have right/left orientations.
Kick Board - recommended to focus on the legs and kick. These style of boards do not provide as much floation as harder boards, which allow for the
swimmer to develop proper core muscles while doing kick sets and complete their underwaters.

Pull buoy - required to focus on the arms and core for a stroke, while keeping the legs up
Snorkel - required to optimize body position without having to move the head to breathe

Nose clip - helpful for minimizing water entering the nose for backstroke

Equipment bag - to hold all of the gear items.

GOLD and PLATINUM:
Paddles - recommended to increase upper body strength and feel for the water.
